Ellicottville NY is both the name of a town and the village that is found within that town. You can find the corresponding destinations in Western New York approximately 45 miles south of Buffalo and just 30 miles from the Lake Erieshoreline. The village of Ellicottville NY was incorporated in 1837, and its Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sharing this honor are the Ellicottville Town Hall, which dates back to 1829, and the Jefferson Street Cemetery. While exploring the historic downtown core of Ellicottville, visitors can break up their sightseeing strolls with stops at a variety of shops and eateries. Outside of the village, outdoor recreation reigns supreme.

The outdoor activities that can be enjoyed in and around Ellicottville NY offer something for everyone and every season. Winter is a major tourist season, thanks largely to the fact that Ellicottville is home to the Holimont Ski Area and the more famous Holiday Valley Ski Resort. When winter visitors aren’t gliding down hills on skis or snowboards, then can enjoy any other number of fun activities, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and snow tubing. When the weather warms, Ellicottville visitors can make a switch to such outdoor activities as hiking, biking, golfing, swimming, tennis, horseback riding, skydiving, and fishing. Visits to the Sky High Aerial Adventure Park can also be added to the agenda during the warmer season.

Ellicottville NY visitors who are looking to enjoy some outdoor adventures are encouraged to keep this adventure park in mind. Found at the western end of the Holiday Valley Ski Resort and near the Tannenbaum Lodge, the Sky High Aerial Adventure Park offers a series of platforms and “bridges” that are built in the trees of a four-acre section of woods. The platforms and bridges pertain to different adventure courses that vary in degrees of difficulty, and there are moments where visitors must zip-line to get from one point to another. Regardless of the adventure course in question, a harness is provided to keep participants safe. Complementing the Aerial Park at Sky High is the Mountain Coaster. This roller coaster of sorts sees guests riding along a spiraling track in small, one-person cars. Each car has brakes that allow the rider to control their speed, and the overall ride is just over 4,800 feet long.

Since Ellicottville is home to Holiday Valley, many visitors choose to stay at one of the Holiday Valley hotels or vacation rentals. Among the Holiday Valley hotels are the Inn at Holiday Valley and the Tamarack Lodge. The former is more of a traditional hotel, while the latter is a condominium hotel. Also worth keeping in mind if you want to be close to everything that Holiday Valley has to offer is the Telemark Motel. It can be found at the entrance of the ski resort.
