Hotels near the Catskill Mountains
Hotels near the Catskill Mountains can be great places to stay when looking to get away from it all in New York State. Of course, travelers who have such an escape in mind are also entitled to look for hotels that are actually found within the boundaries of the Catskills region. Either way, there will be numerous activity options to select from, such as fishing and hiking, and there is certainly no shortage of lodging choices.
Inns, bed and breakfasts, lodges, resorts, and motels all figure among the lodging options that can be found in the general Catskill Mountains region. This makes it easy for regional visitors to find a hotel that suits their preference. Also worth keeping in mind are the Catskill Mountains campgrounds. There are many to choose from, so once again, variety is the name of the game.
Full Moon Resort
There are several Catskill Mountains resorts, so travelers who wish to go the resort route are in luck. Among the bunch is the Full Moon Resort. Found on Valley View Road in Big Indian, this delightful resort enjoys a tranquil setting. Wilderness surrounds the grounds, as do mountains, and it is easy to find relaxation along Esopus Creek. When guests aren’t relaxing in their comfortable rooms, they can take advantage of the surrounding terrain by engaging in any number of fun activities. In the warmer months, these activities include hiking and fly fishing, and winter brings opportunities to go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Downhill skiing is also an activity that can be added to the list of winter activities, as Belleayre Mountain is a mere fifteen minutes away. It also doesn’t take long to get to the other Catskills ski resorts. As for the accommodation options, the Full Moon Resort offers B&B rooms, as well as cottage units that can either be shared or private.
For more than 50 years now, the Alpine Inn (pictured above) on Alpine Road in Oliverea has been serving the needs of Catskill Mountains visitors. This doesn’t mean that modern amenities are lacking, however. In the 25 guest units, the standard amenities include cable TV and Wi-Fi, for example. Other in-room amenity highlights include private balconies, air conditioning, heating, and a telephone. Some guests units at the Alpine Inn take things further and offer both a jetted tub and a fireplace, and there is one chalet unit that features a kitchen.
Lazy Meadow Motel
The Lazy Meadow Motel is anything but your average motel. More officially known as Kate’s Lazy Meadow Motel, it is partly-owned by Kate Pierson of the B-52's and offers a groovy, somewhat upscale edge. There is certainly plenty of style in the various guest units, and these guest units, it should be mentioned, come in a variety of forms. There are cabin suites, airstream trailers, and vacation rental-style units. Each and every guest unit comes with great amenities, and the overall vibe could be described as 50's chic. Kate’s Lazy Meadow Motel is a lodging operation with a very unique appeal, and should you wish to check it out, the address is 5191 Route 28 in Mount Tremper.
Slide Mountain Forest House
Found near Slide Mountain in the Big Indian Valley, the Slide Mountain Forest House helps prove the point that variety is the name of the game when it comes to Catskill Mountains lodging. Classified as an inn, this hotel is really a mix of an inn, a resort, and a vacation rental complex. There are comfortable rooms that feature private baths, larger apartment suites that are equipped with kitchens, and a pair of even larger chalets with kitchens. As for the general facilities, this interesting inn offers a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, a game room, a tennis court, a swimming pool, and a campfire area, among other things. Also worth highlighting is the fact that the hotel offers easy access to some wonderful hiking trails. No wonder so many people from New York City and beyond choose to make this their Catskills base.
