The Lilac Festival is one of several high-profile annual events in upstate New York. This particular festival is located in Rochester and takes place for twelve days beginning in the middle of May. This New York festival has been held in Rochester New York at Highland Park since 1898. It attracted some 3,000 visitors its first year and has grown in popularity and attendance ever since. In fact, the attendance has grown to reach over 500,000 people. The Lilac Festival 2016 should be no exception. When John Dunbar started planning lilacs in the park, there were only twenty different varieties.

The Lilac Festival 2016 will be staged at Highland Park once again, which is located at 249 Highland Avenue Rochester, New York. It is not far from either Route 490 or Route 590. While the festival is on, Highland Avenue is a one-way street.
