The Upper West Side of Manhattan is a largely residential neighborhood in New York City that some consider to be one of the only "real" neighborhoods in Manhattan. The residents of the Upper West Side can be found relaxing in Riverside Park, sampling the cuisine of small owner-operated restaurants, or browsing the boutique stores of Columbus and Broadway Avenues. Upper West Side hotels offer an ambiance that is considerably quieter than neighborhoods that tourists frequent, such as Times Square, yet they are conveniently located to public transportation that will bring you anywhere in the city, including the Bronx and Brooklyn.


The Excelsior Hotel is located at between Central Park West and Columbus Ave., near the Museum of Natural History. Although the hotel doesn't offer as many services of more expensive luxury New York City hotels in Upper West Side, the Hotel Beacon is clean, comfortable, and affordable. Central Park, Riverside Park, Lincoln Center, and the Museum of Natural History are located within walking distance. Also, major subway lines are located less than a block from the Hotel Beacon as well as other Upper West side Hotels. The rooms are large and are affordable for families on a budget. Some of the Upper West Side hotels amenities include rooms with small kitchenettes, an adjacent coffee shop, a health club, a coin operated laundry facility, and a business center. While the Hotel Beacon doesn't offer any restaurants or room service, there are dozens of restaurants in the Upper West Side that deliver.


The Hotel Newton is located between 94th and 95th Street and is a popular choice for the hotels Upper West Side Manhattan offers. Although the hotel is priced for those on a budget, it's decorated with bright colors and modern furnishings that make the atmosphere comfortable. The large rooms are spacious enough to accommodate families and feature two double beds or two queen sized beds, a new bathroom, and work desks. There are also a few suites that include a microwave, mini-fridge, and a sofa. A next door diner is well known for offering heaping breakfasts at reasonable prices. If you're visiting other Manhattan attractions, such as Times Square or Madison Square Garden, the 96th Street subway stop is a block away.
