Peek and Peak Ski Resort

Peek and Peak Ski Resort is a small ski resort in western New York that can make an excellent place to play when the snow is falling. Officially known as the Peek'n Peak Resort and Spa, this resort features 27 tempting slopes, the bulk of which are ideal for beginners or intermediate-level skiers. A handful of black diamond runs offer more of a challenge for advanced skiers, while the resort's three terrain parks provide the perfect areas to work on high-flying jumps and other tricks. As is true at some of the other New York ski areas, such as Greek Peak, a tubing area can also be found at Peek and Peak if you want to switch things up a little. Riders race down groomed slopes on inner tubes at the tubing area and all ages are welcome.

The Peek and Peak Ski Resort is located in the western corner of New York in Chataqua County. Approximately 90 miles away to the northeast is Buffalo and the Canada border, while the Pennsylvania border is just a few minutes away by car. This is a region where plenty of snow usually falls during the winter months, so the slopes at the Peek and Peak Ski Resort are often well-covered. On an average annual basis, the resort gets 105 inches of snow, and if not, the resort can make plenty of its own.

The Peek and Peak Resort and Spa has eight chairlifts to get skiers and snowboarders up the hill, and these lifts run both day and night during the winter season. Most of the trails are well-groomed, providing ideal stretches for cruising and making turns. Should you find that your skills aren't quite up to par and you want some tips, professional instructors provide lessons for skiing and snowboarding alike. If you prefer cross country skiing to alpine skiing, there are miles of trails to enjoy. These trails are also ideal for snowshoeing. Equipment for all of these winter activities can be rented at the Peek and Peak Resort and Spa, so you don't exactly have to come prepared.

As is true of the other top New York ski areas such as Catamount and Belleayre, Peek and Peak has plenty to keep the visitor busy. The full-service spa that opened in 2007 is an excellent place to rejuvenate both mind and body after some time on the slopes, and you can always enjoy a dip at the indoor pool. A hot tub complements the indoor pool, and as is true of the spa, these facilities can be enjoyed year round. Next to the indoor pool is an indoor playground that caters to families with kids. When the snow starts to melt at the Peak and Peak Resort and Spa, golf takes center stage, thanks to the two excellent courses. One of the courses is a championship course, while the other is a more affordable course that is better suited for beginners.

When visiting New York ski areas such as Peek and Peak, finding lodging near the slopes is easy. In addition to considering the chain-brand motels and hotels that can be found in the area, those who are in need of lodging near the Peek and Peak Ski Resort might give the Inn at the Peak a look. Old World charm is what this inn is all about, and there are a variety of guest unit categories to choose from. In addition to the more affordable rooms, guests at the Inn at the Peak can book a suite with a balcony and/or a fireplace. Deluxe suites with jetted tubs are also available.

Not far from the Inn at the Peak, Fairway Suites provides attractive condo-style units that feature kitchen facilities, and you can also entertain the option of booking a condo-style unit at Camelot. These accommodations can all be found at the base of the slopes, but they aren't the only lodging options that have visitors close to all the action. Other more upscale condos and townhomes cater to travelers who prefer vacation rentals to hotel rooms, as do private homes that are both big and luxurious.
