Staten Island Hotels

Staten Island Hotels

Staten Island is the least populated borough of New York and doesn’t offer as many things to do as Manhattan, but the island’s inexpensive lodging and access to public transportation make it a convenient place to stay while vacationing in New York. There are many hotels on Staten Island located right next to popular attractions such as the historical Alice Austin House, the Staten Island Botanical Garden, or Midland Beach. Hotels on Staten Island oftentimes provide great views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. If you’re looking to save money, Staten Island hotels can be found at a fraction of the price of hotels in Manhattan. Staten Island New York City hotels usually have a price range of $100 to $200 a night.

If you stay in hotels on Staten Island you won’t have to worry about transportation to New York attractions such as Central Park and Yankee Stadium. Staten Island offers a free ferry ride from the St. George Terminal in Staten Island to the financial district of lower Manhattan 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The ferry ride is popular with both tourists and New Yorkers and takes only 25 minutes. The transportation is extremely reliable and has a ontime performance rate of 96 percent. Once you get to the financial district, simply take the subway to any other part of the city you’d like to visit, including Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. Most Staten Island New York City hotels are located near the ferry, or provide transportation to the ferry, but it’s a good idea to check with the hotel’s manager.

Staten Island hotels are often situated in quiet residential neighborhoods. This can be a welcome relief from the noise of Manhattan. One hotel to consider is The Harbor House in Staten Island. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood, just two miles from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. Visitors can catch a bus that runs 24 hours a day to the terminal. The neighborhood is considered safe and the streets are well lit, so walking to the ferry terminal is also an option. Some of the amenities included are spacious rooms with modern furnishings and a free continental breakfast. Since the hotel was built in the 1890’s, parts of it aren’t handicapped accessible. Rates range from $110 to $150 a night.

Another option for Staten Island New York City hotels is the Victorian Bed and Breakfast of Staten Island. This elegant bed and breakfast is located on the north shore of Staten Island in the small town of West New Brighton. The house dates back to 1846 and still has some of its original décor and furnishings. Guests will enjoy a large breakfast every morning, with low fat meals available on request. Rates range from $85 and $130 per night.

Although many Staten Island hotels are bed and breakfasts located in residential neighborhoods, there are a few hotels on Staten Island that cater to business travelers. The Staten Island Hotel, located on Richmond Avenue next to Interstate 278, is 11 miles away from Newark Liberty International Airport. Each of the 187 guest rooms feature complimentary wireless internet access , well dressed king sized or double sized beds, and room service from 6:30-10:00 p.m. daily. The hotel recently added a fitness center. Dining options include Stanley’s Restaurant, which features American regional fare. There is also a full service bar that hosts karaoke every Thursday and Friday night. Rates range from $120-$180 a night.
