Thousand Islands Hotels

A healthy number of Thousand Islands hotels come in the form of small resorts and motels. Gone are the historic, grand hotels that the wealthy used to frequent back around the turn of the twentieth century, though there are some relatively upscale lodging gems that can satisfy the needs of those who have a little luxury in mind. Visitors to the region can also find some chain brand lodging establishments, especially if they focus on the Watertown area. This inland city is just off Interstate 81 on the New York side.
Alexandria Bay Hotels

Most of the Thousand Islands hotels are found in Alexandria Bay, as this is the main regional hub. Examples include the Otter Creek Inn, the Pinehurst Motel and Cottages, and Captain Thomson’s Resort. That doesn’t mean that visitors to the region have to limit themselves to this New York village on the St. Lawrence River. Further south on the banks of eastern Lake Ontario, Sackets Harbor offers up some lodging options, not to mention some bars and restaurants. Travelers are also encouraged to consider the Frontenac Club Inn and the other hotels that can be found on the Canadian side.
Edgewood Resort
Anyone who is interested in staying at a good Thousand Islands resort is encouraged to give the Edgewood Resort a look. Found on Edgewood Park Road in Alexandria Bay, this enticing retreat sits on a 40-acre, waterfront plot. Many of the rooms have waterfront balconies, and it’s not uncommon to see guests fishing from them. There are 100 total rooms, and while they aren’t overly luxurious, they offer plenty of comfort. Guests can opt to pay extra for a suite with a jetted tub and/or a kitchenette. Outside of the guest units, the Edgewood Resort features two restaurants, a bar, a marina, an outdoor pool, and venues that can be used for such things as banquets and business meetings. Wi-Fi is available in the Edgewood lobby.
Riveredge Resort

Also found in Alexandria Bay, the Riveredge Resort provides what are arguably the most luxurious accommodations in the Thousand Islands region, and it is hard to argue with its wonderful facilities. These facilities include an indoor pool, a hot tub, a sauna, an outdoor pool, a game room, a restaurant, a lounge, and a seasonal Tiki bar. Also available is dock space for those who need a place to park their boat, and much like the Edgewood, the Riveredge features meeting and special event venues. 17 Holland Street in Alexandria Bay is the more specific location of this waterfront resort, and guests should appreciate the proximity to Boldt Castle. You can actually see this renowned Thousand Islands attraction from various vantage points on the Riveredge property.
Ship Motel
Travelers who are interested in finding highly affordable accommodations in the Alexandria Bay area shouldn’t overlook the Ship Motel. This AAA-recommended property certainly pleases with its rates, even in the peak summer season, and the free Wi-Fi is a nice added touch. In the guest units, a standard motel decor awaits, as do heating and air conditioning. Other amenities include cable TV, free coffee, and a phone that can be used to make free local calls. 6 Market Street in downtown Alexandria Bay is where you can find the wallet-friendly Ship Motel, and that means that guests can easily walk to shops, bars, restaurants, and Village Park. At Village Park, it should be mentioned, there is a swimming beach. Also worth noting is the fact that Ship Motel guests don’t have to go far to arrange fun boat tours.
