Charlotte Tours Day Trips

Whether you want to stay in the city or venture beyond the outer limits, Charlotte day trips have a little something for everyone. Charlotte tours and day trips in Charlotte can be the perfect way to spend just one day or a great trick for organizing longer Charlotte tours one step at a time. Some of the most popular Charlotte day trips are mentioned below.

Cane Creek Park

This lake and park is only 20 miles from Charlotte and one of the most popular choices for Charlotte day trips among families. A large 350 acre lake with bass perfect for fishing is the center of activity at Cane Creek Park. In addition to the lake, there are more than 1,000 acres of park to enjoy, where folks can picnic, relax, hike, or just enjoy their Charlotte tours and Charlotte trips. There are also trails for horseback riding.

Cannon Village

Another popular choice for day trips in Charlotte is Cannon Village, a colonial settlement located just 25 miles from Charlotte in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The village is completely restored to resemble colonial times, complete with shops for antiquing and Old World style food to make your Charlotte tours that much more fun. Surprisingly, this is also the best place to go in North Carolina for handmade furniture at low prices.

Crowders Mountain State Park

As most hikers and nature lover know, Charlotte trips are well known for the many parks and recreation areas that characterize the state. Day trips in Charlotte to Crowders Mountain State Park are an excellent example. This park is just 30 miles from the city, and once you are there you can hike a few miles up to a lookout that offers sweeping views of the Charlotte skyline and some beautiful landscape below. Once you are there, you will find picnic and toilet facilities, fishing and boat rentals.

North Carolina Zoological Park

The Zoological Park is about an hour away by car (65 miles), and is located in Asheboro, halfway between Charlotte and the capital city of Raleigh. This is one of the first zoos to create a natural habitat for the zoo creatures, making a stroll through the zoo quite impressive. More than 500 acres of space make up the zoo, and on it travelers will find everything from African natives to polar bears and local endangered species.

Downtown Walking Tour

For travelers who hope to see all of Charlotte, a downtown walking tour is a great way to see the city. The Mint Museum of Art is located downtown, along with some great historic buildings such as the Charlotte Library and a number of historic Charlotte hotels.

Fayetteville

Drive east for about two hours from Charlotte and you will discover the town of Fayetteville. Along the way, you will drive right through Pinehurst, one of the best places in the country for golfing. If golfing doesn't suit your fancy, just head over to Fayetteville to spend time touring historical downtown or eating out in a great restuarant.

No matter how much time to have to spend in Charlotte, you should have no trouble finding something to do.  For more details about planning a trip to Charlotte or throughout North Carolina, take a look at information regarding North Carolina suggested itineraries.
