Fayetteville North Carolina

Fayetteville

The city of Fayetteville North Carolina is located in the Sandhills region of the state, surrounded by over 30 of the state’s best golf courses. Vacations to the Fayetteville area are generally centered on golfing in the fabled Pinehurst area, but there are also some other great Fayetteville North Carolina attractions to enjoy, including some great historical attractions and excellent shopping in the downtown area. Rental homes in Fayetteville North Carolina are also a great option for travelers who want to golf and yet avoid some of the higher resort prices found in Pinehurst at the golf clubs.

Historically, the city of Fayetteville was founded in the 18th century and was inhabited by a majority of citizens who remained loyal to British crown during the American Revolution. During the war, many of these inhabitants moved north to Canada to escape the changes happening in Fayetteville at the time. After the war, the remaining inhabitants started the University of North Carolina, which is today America’s oldest public state university. At the time, Fayetteville North Carolina joined Raleigh (and lost) in the bid to become the state capital of North Carolina.

Today, the city of Fayetteville is a major hub for great things to see and do. Much of the reason for its popularity is its excellent location directly on the Cape Fear River. Cape Fear and the Cape Fear River make up one of the best places for coastal vacationing in North Carolina, and as such rental homes in Fayetteville North Carolina for beach goers are quite popular. Prices for rental homes in Fayetteville North Carolina for golfers and beach enthusiasts will cost travelers between $600 and $1300 per night, with the prices increasing as the size of the house increases. Smaller rental homes will usually sleep between 3 and 5 people, and the larger homes can sometime accommodate as many as 8 to 12 people. Be prepared to pay a refundable damage deposit when renting a home, and expect to rent for at least two nights, as most rental homes do enforce a minimum number nights.

If you plan to spend some time touring the city of Fayetteville, head downtown. The downtown area is where travelers will find the best of restaurants in town, as well as all of the museums and the best of shopping and sightseeing. The Museum of Cape Fear Historical Complex is one great choice for downtown sightseeing. This two-floor museum is filled with artifacts found throughout the Cape Fear area, which includes items from Native American tribes, colonial settlers, and collectables from throughout the Civil War. The Fayetteville Museum of Art is also located downtown within walking distance from the Cape Fear Museum and is a great place to go to see some interesting local art. The 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum rounds out the interesting Fayetteville museums by showing over 3,000 items from World War I, World War II and Vietnam. Uniforms, weapons and aircraft are all on display here at the museum.
