Holden Beach

Holden Beach
Atlantic Beach | Bald Head Island | Carolina Beach | Emerald Isle | Hatteras Island | Holden Beach | Nags Head | Ocean Isle Beach | Sunset Beach | Wrightsville Beach

Holden Beach is just a 35 minute drive from both Wilmington, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and it’s certainly an ideal destination for those looking to get away for a while.  Families will love Holden Beach North Carolina getaways, as this island earns constant praise as a top family vacation spot, and well it should.  There isn’t a lot of ritzy glam at Holden Beach,  and since there is a building height restriction of just 35 feet, it manages to maintain a rather small town appeal.  The moderate year round temperatures at Holden Beach make it a worthy vacation destination whenever the season, though the warmer summers are certainly the best for those who want to take to the 8-9 miles of sandy beaches here.  Fishing, water skiing, and boating are just some of the fun side activities that you can enjoy on Holden Beach vacations.

The beaches of Holden Beach are some of the cleanest and “healthiest” of all the North Carolina beaches, and the soft sand and warm summer water temperatures only add to their appeal.  On the southern side of the island, the beach faces south, which means that you can enjoy both the sunset and sunrise, which is really quite nice.  Some 1,000 people call Holden Beach North Carolina their year round home, and there are more than 2,100 properties here and counting, among which figure a good number of Holden Beach vacation rentals.  The Holden Beach vacation rentals range from single family homes to duplexes, with a nice list of condos in-between.  Since Holden Beach North Carolina is more laid back than some of the other vacation destinations in the area, it makes for a great area travel base.  There are some 100 golf courses found within an hour’s drive of Holden Beach if you want to get out and play, and the shopping and dining choices in the area are also quite plentiful.  After a day touring about the area or hanging out at the beach, visitors to Holden Beach can always treat themselves to a rejuvenating treatment at one of the town’s day spas.

Holden Beach is connected to the North Carolina mainland by the Holden Beach bridge, and should you be looking to catch a flight in before renting a car, perhaps, there are airports at both Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.  While cars are allowed on Holden Beach Island, much unlike nearby Bald Head Island, RV’s and campers are not.  You can bring your dog with you on your Holden Beach vacation, provided that you find one of the Holden Beach rentals that allows them, though they must remain on a leash and are not allowed on the beach save for the hours between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.  Whether you are enjoying a Holden Beach getaway with Fido, friends, or family, you’re sure to come away from the trip both refreshed and relaxed.
