Another great choice if you have time in the afternoon is the Paramount's Carowinds theme park. Roller coasters, Ferris wheels and all kinds of great rides can be enjoyed here as well as some great southern food booths. The park is located about 15 minutes north of Charlotte by car.
4-7 Days

You can also spend a day checking out the Richard Petty Driving Experience Museum, which is fully memorabilia related to this NASCAR giant as well as anyone who wants to try actually driving a racecar around a track. Another place to tour in the city of Charlotte is the Historic Rosedale Plantation House, located in the city center of Charlotte. First built in 1815, the house has been restored to its original glory and is open during the week for tours.

Stay in SouthPark for some of the best in Charlotte cuisine. Seafood and upscale southern dining abound throughout the neighborhood. For travelers who just can't get enough of North Carolina flowers and plants, the McDowell Nature Park and Preserve is an excellent place to go. Here, over 1,000 acres of forest and landscaped scenery combine to provide great entertainment for bird-watchers, hikers and more. There is also a butterfly garden located at the nature center at the front of the park.
