Staying in one of the many North Dakota cabins is a great way to go if you are looking to stay close to nature during your visit. The cabins in North Dakota range from simple abodes that are easy on the budget to more upscale units that are still relatively affordable. While some of the cabins in North Dakota can be rented throughout the year, others are only available during specific time frames, so you can choose accordingly. The state parks in North Dakota are a good place to start if you are looking to rent a cabin, but they aren't the only places worth checking out. Various recreation areas and campgrounds that aren't affiliated with the state parks offer cabin rentals as well, and isolated cabins that stand on their own also figure into the mix. Numerous outdoor activities can readily be enjoyed when staying in one of the North Dakota cabins, which is why they are extremely popular with outdoor enthusiasts.
Devils Lake is one of the top vacation destinations in North Dakota, and the Devils Lake cabins are definitely worth checking out if you plan on heading here during your North Dakota visit. Grahams Island State Park offers four Devils Lake cabins that you can rent, and each sleeps up to five comfortably. While these cabins are devoid of kitchen facilities and bathrooms, the Grahams Island Campground comfort station is but a short distance away, and it offers bathrooms and showers that cabin guests can use. As for the amenities that these Devils Lake cabins do offer, they include a grill, a picnic table, lights, a fan, and heat. Mid-May through October is when these cabins are generally available, but you can inquire about an off-season stay if you are interested. The cabins at Grahams State Park aren't the only Devils Lake cabins that you can rent, and if you are looking for more upscale units, you can find them here as well. At the Woodland Resort, for example, modern cabins that feature fireplaces, full bathrooms, and fully-equipped kitchens can be rented.
Lake Sakakawea, much like Devils Lake, is one of the top vacation destinations in North Dakota, and you will find an array of cabins that can be rented here as well. Two camping cabins can be rented at Lake Sakakawea, and these cabins are akin to the simpler cabins that are found at Devils Lake. Should you prefer more amenities than the camping cabins in North Dakota have to offer, there are other options at Lake Sakakawea. Some of the more upscale Lake Sakakawea cabins feature cable TV, a full kitchen, a private bathroom, a shower, a campfire ring, a picnic table, and an outdoor grill. When you're not hanging out in your cabin at Devils Lake or Lake Sakakawea, fishing, hiking, boating, and swimming are among the top recreational activities that you can enjoy on the side.
There are ten state parks that offer rental cabins in North Dakota, and Grahams Island State Park and Lake Sakakawea State Park are just two of them. Others include Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, which can be found near Bismarck, and the Lewis and Clark State Park near Williston. You can always choose to stay at one of the Bismarck hotels or one of the Williston hotels when visiting these destinations, but if you consider yourself a nature enthusiast, you will want to at least give the state park rental cabins a look. West of Bismarck and south of Williston, the North Dakota Badlands present visitors with an incredibly beautiful landscape to enjoy, and staying at a cabin in the Badlands area is something that any and all outdoor enthusiasts should enjoy. The Knife River Ranch in the southwestern part of the state offers rustic North Dakota cabins that feature refrigerators and heat. The main lodge here offers cooking facilities and such, and bathroom facilities are also available. The Dahkotah Lodge Guest Ranch is another Badlands establishment where cabins can be rented. This working cattle ranch features attractive log cabin units that boast their own private bathrooms, and you can enjoy wildlife viewing trips and hiking excursions on the side.
The North Dakota cabins are plentiful, so finding one that fits your wants and needs shouldn't be a problem. Many cabins in North Dakota are relatively cheap to rent, which lends to their popularity, but you can always look for the more upscale units if you prefer. Even the upscale North Dakota cabins tend to offer competitive lodging rates, so adding them to your list of potential places to stay is always a good idea.
