Cincinnati Ohio

Cincinnati Ohio

The Ohio River carves through Cincinnati Ohio like a twisting snake. In the history of the city, the river beckoned ship building companies to the area when the steamboat craze was happening. The city flourished even further when both the Erie and Miami Canals were joined with the Ohio River in 1829. The famous flying pigs at the Bicentennial Commons signify Cincinnati Ohio as being one of the largest pork producers in the country in the later 19th century.

Downtown Cincinnati tourism has found a new edge , much like Cleveland’s Fountain Square did. The center is now full of galleries, museums, restaurants, sports venues and shopping that had added an extra element to Cincinnati tourism. At the Great American Ball Park visitors can enjoy a baseball game, football game or any other number of events such as ballet or the orchestra.

Cincinnati tourism has not only been a popular place of late. Charles Dickens called the city “thriving and animated” and Winston Churchill named it “the most beautiful city inland in the Union”. Cincinnati tourism is growing as the steady economy thrives and the city remains easily accessible and crime rates stay low.

Another big attraction in the city is the Cincinnati Aquarium, or Newport Aquarium as it’s also known, is full of fun things to do for the whole family. Located only two short minutes drive from downtown Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Aquarium exhibits thousands of animals from around the globe in a million gallons of sea and fresh water all encompassed in a state-of-the-art facility.

There are more than 70 exhibits and 14 galleries including “Surrounded by Sharks”, “Kroger Kingdom of Penguins”, “Bizarre and Beautiful” and “Amazon Flooded Forest”.

The biggest feature of the Cincinnati Aquarium are the five seamless tunnels that are 200 feet in total and allow visitors to see an assortment of underwater life up close. Cincinnati tourism abounds at the  aquarium which can be visited 365 days a year from 10:00am to 6pm. Admission is $17.95 for adults, $10.95 for 2 thorugh12 and free for kids under 2 years old. When planning a visit make sure to check out the calender of events so you don’t miss fun and exciting shows like the Penguin Parade!

The Cincinnati Art Museum is one of the oldest museums in the United States and features an unrivaled collection of more than 60,000 pieces that measure over the last 6,000 years. There is a permanent collection to be enjoyed as well as numerous traveling exhibitions of international and national fame that are featured each year. The Cincinnati Art Museum is situated in picturesque Eden Park since it was first established as a permanent museum building in 1886. It became known as the “Art Palace of the West” for its significant and fascinating collection.

Some of the collections featured at the museum include Far Eastern art, American and European painting and sculpture, costume and textiles, arts of Africa, photographs, prints, drawings, watercolors and more. The museum is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00am to 5:00pm and on Wednesday until 9:00pm. Cincinnati Art Museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays.
