Top Thrill Dragster is one of the most popular rides at Cedar Point, and it’s a unique one besides. This is a strata coaster, meaning a complete circuit roller coaster that towers 420 feet at its highest point. The Top Thrill Dragster Cedar Point is a landmark that can be seen from anywhere in the park and even from outside the park as well.

This is one of only two strata coasters in the entire world, and this is one of the Cedar Point Amusement Park rides that’s thrilling and very popular, despite it being a relatively short ride when compared with other coasters such as the Maverick or the Raptor. The most exciting moment on the Top Thrill Dragster for many riders is the launch, the very beginning of the ride, when the train is hydraulically fired towards the summit of its one and only peak.

On especially windy or wet days, the launch may not quite reach the summit, and the train slides back toward the beginning of the ride. This is known as a rollback, and while it may sound less thrilling at first, it’s a coveted experience among the most adventurous riders. When the rollback occurs, a magnetic brake system kicks in that chases the train towards the summit, and riders can enjoy the exhilarating experience of being launched to the summit yet again. Or, if you’ve had enough excitement for one go, riders also have the option to get off and move on to another of the Cedar Point Amusement Park rides.
