Lake Murray

Located in the hills of southern Oklahoma, Lake Murray State Park is a beautiful setting for a family vacation or a day of fun. As the largest state park in Oklahoma, Lake Murray Oklahoma offers a wide range of recreational activities. Visitors can spend the day golfing at an 18-hole course, playing a game of tennis at one of several courts, or enjoying a hayride on the scenic lake shore. Each campground has full electrical hookups and well-maintained restrooms and showers that are located throughout the park. Campers can choose between a variety of campsites, such as wooded sites with enough room for two or three tents, or campsites near the lake.

Some of the cabins are furnished with modern furniture and have an array of amenities such as TVs and phones, while others are quite basic and old fashioned. Most Lake Murray Oklahoma cabins feature one or two bedrooms, a small living room area, and a patio. Some cabins have kitchenettes with basic cooking utensils and a coffee maker.

Lake Murray offers something for everyone in terms of outdoor activities. If you're into dirt biking and motorcycling, Lake Murray Oklahoma has a special area for all terrain vehicles to ride. The area also has plenty of activities for sports enthusiasts, such as outdoor pools, volleyball nets, softball fields, tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, and a baseball diamond. Another unique aspect of Lake Murray Park is a specially designed airpark for remote control airplanes.

Most people who rent Lake Murray Oklahoma cabins plan to spend a lot of time fishing on the lake. The park has a large marina that rents various types of boats and sells the bait and tackle needed to catch the many species of trout and smallmouth bass that live in the lake. The marina is also the place to go to apply for a fishing license or learn more about daily fishing conditions on the lake.

If you'd like to learn more about the natural features and history of the park, stop in at the Tucker Tower Nature Center. The center is run by park rangers and volunteers who regularly conduct hiking tours and nature talks. Visitors can look at artifacts found in the area and learn more about the wild animals that live near Lake Murray and throughout Oklahoma.
