As with the town itself, Stillwater hotels are all about the Oklahoma State University. Situated in the middle of the Oklahoma City - Tulsa - Enid triangle, Stillwater is a thriving university city with tens of thousands of students gracing it year in year out. While not the most expensive point in town, The Atherton Hotel at OSU is probably the headlining act of all the Stillwater hotels. That's because it's on the university campus itself and is run by students of the OSU's School of Hotel & Restaurant Administration. Don't worry though—far from a grimy place full of empty crisp packets, cigarette butts and lazy students, The Atherton is an very well maintained executive hotel. The students genuinely care about their project here, and as you'll find them everywhere form the front desk to the maid service, you'll be met with a smile and good service wherever you go.

The Atherton is housed in what was once the university's Union Club. As such, it features three excellent social areas: a lounge/reception area with fireplace and piano, an executive-style conference room that comes complete with broadband and video conferencing facilities, and a wine tasting room where you can get to know the produce of Oklahoma's local wineries. Rooms here are fitted with 400 thread count sheets, internet access, luxurious robes, and DVD players, while the breakfast includes piping hot eggs, bacon, and sausages. Quite simply, this is exactly how university should be!

Another example of top-end lodging in Stillwater is the Cimarron Hotel and Suites. The 77 rooms here include plasma flat screen TVs and separate work spaces. Make it out of the rooms and you'll find an indoor pool and excellent fitness center, a business center with six meeting rooms (catering available), and high-speed WiFi available anywhere in the hotel.

In terms of cheap accommodation in Stillwater, the Fairfield Inn is a step up from Stillwater motels without being much more expensive. Within walking distance of the university (and therefore the famous Strip where students go to eat, drink, and be merry), the hotel features an indoor pool and associated spa, an onsite barber and beauty shop, a drugstore, and a well-stocked florist. It will also help you arrange golfing, sailing, and water skiing expeditions on some of Oklahoma's lakes should you so require.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Stillwater motels offer the cheapest lodging in Stillwater. The Days Inn Stillwater, for example, may generate mixed reviews, but it is generally clean and comfortable, and its nightly rate is wonderfully low. Breakfast, broadband, and local calls are included in the price. Pets stay for a small surcharge.
