The Portland Art Museum is located in Portland,
Oregon, and is the oldest operating museum in the
Pacific Northwest. The Portland Museum of Art has been
in service since it was first opened in 1892, and although
its building structure has been renovated and expanded
since that time, it continues as one of the largest and
most prominent museums in the United States. Museum
prices are around $15 for adults. Discounts for
students and children are offered, and children under
age 5 are free.
Along with being one of the oldest museums, the Portland Art Museum is also one of the nation’s twenty-five largest museums. The original building that housed the Portland Museum of Art collection was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This building was designed by Pietro Belluschi and is known as the Belluschi Building. Although the Portland Art Museum has long outgrown this single building, it is still found on the museum grounds next to the other buildings of the current Portland Museum.
The Portland Museum of Art showcases one of the best collections of Native American artwork in the country. This exhibit is part of the Portland Museum’s permanent collection and remains one of the more popular places to go within the museum. In addition to the Native American artwork exhibit, the museum offers over 32,000 pieces of art to the public for viewing as part of its permanent collection. These art pieces are found in the various exhibits, which include the Center for Northwest Art, the Center for Modern and Contemporary Art, the Asian Art Center, and an outdoor sculpture garden.

another that they can be enjoyed in a single trip of a
few days or more. Since Portland does have its own airport, there
are a number of flights reaching the city daily from Seattle, Spokane, and northern California cities. For longer stays in Portland, Portland
