Portland Theaters

Portland theaters offer a wide variety of performing arts events for those who are interested in seeing a play, a concert, or other performance. The Roseland Theater Portland Oregon alone offers more than 150 events on an annual basis, and there's almost always something going on a the spacious Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Add in the events at the Aladdin Theater Portland, and the options only increase. These are just some of the venues worth keeping in mind when trying to find things to do in Portland, and the city certainly isn't devoid of good museums if you're looking for more ideas on the cultural front.

The Roseland Theater Portland Oregon is a two-venue complex that can be found in the Pearl District. The main venue is simply called the Roseland Theater, while the smaller venue is the 400-person Peter's Room. The Roseland Theater Portland Oregon has a capacity of 1,410 people and has seen some of the biggest musicians in the industry grace its stage. Peter's Room has also seen its fair share of big name artists, many of which were just starting out their careers. Peter's Room is more than just a small concert venue. It also has a restaurant and bar, helping to make it a hip place to enjoy some nightlife in the trendy Pearl District.

One of the other best theaters in Portland Oregon is the Aladdin Theater. Found to the near southeast of the downtown core, this venue just might be the top concert venue around. Much like Peter's Room, the vintage Aladdin Theater Portland is an intimate venue. The capacity is 620, and this means that you'll basically be close to the performers wherever you stand. The Aladdin Theater Portland concerts cover all genres, so music fans will want to consult the schedule of events when planning their visit to the city.

The Portland Center for the Performing Arts is the city's main performing arts complex. Comprised of three different buildings, this is one of the largest centers of its kind in the country. Housed in the complex's three buildings are a variety of venues, and they include the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Newmark Theater, the Dolores Winningstad Theater, and Brunish Hall. In the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, you can check out performances by the Oregon Symphony, listen to a lecture, watch a popular music performance, or enjoy any other number of events. Housed in the lovely Antoinette Hatfield Hall, the Newmark and Dolores Winningstad theaters play host to stage productions that are offered by both local and touring companies. Free tours of these various Portland theaters are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as well as on the first Thursday of the month if you want to learn more about them.

Not far from the Portland Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Portland is where you will find the Keller Auditorium. This is the venue of choice if you want to see the Portland Opera or attend a performance at the Oregon Ballet Theatre. You can also catch acclaimed Broadway in Portland performances at the Keller Auditorium. When you want to see a play, the Artists Repertory Theatre is also worth keeping in mind. This local theater company offers relatively daring plays. The city's other main theater company, Portland Center Stage, puts on classic plays and more contemporary ones should you be in the mood for something less daring. Portland Center Stage performs at the historic Gerding Theater at the Armory, which is one of the more attractive Portland theaters.
