Bucks County Playhouse

In a place with a lot to brag about, the locals take special pride in the Bucks County Playhouse. This source of community pride, located in New Hope, is the official state theater of Pennsylvania. Many future Broadway hits and stars have crossed this stage over the years, and the tradition continues as new shows take to the stage. The theater was in danger of closing, but reopened in 2012 after a public-private partnership was formed to save the legend and renovate the beloved playhouse. 

Bucks County Covered Bridge Tour

Many covered bridges once crossed the waters in Bucks County PA. Just twelve remain today, and many visitors start with the bridge at Washington Crossing State Park along the Delaware River. From there, the circuit loops throughout Bucks County and returns to the Delaware River, across the border from New Jersey. Along the way, you can stop and photograph these treasures, including the Van Sant, Frankenfield, and Pine Valley bridges. The longest bridge, Schofield Ford Bridge in Tyler State Park, is a replica of the 19th-century bridge rebuilt after the original burned. Many visitors see all of the bridges, but the route is flexible enough so you can tour however many you choose.

In looking at the Bucks County PA map, you’ll find New Jersey just to the east with the Delaware River as the border. With the way that the river flows, it also forms the southern boundary of the county. You’ll also notice that it does not take long to get to Philadelphia and its favorite attractions like Independence Hall and the world-class Philadelphia Museum of Art. Heading in from the west, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 276, winds through the southwestern part of the county, and the northeast extension cuts through the northwest corner. Interstate 95 also carries passengers through Bucks County, as do several zippy state highways.
