Pennsylvania resorts come in a variety of shapes and sizes and have long figured among the most popular vacation destinations in the eastern United States. People from the East have certainly been flocking to the resort hotels in the Poconos for decades on end, and the state’s many ski resorts can be great places to make some turns in the snow during the winter season. Romantic resorts are also available for couples who are looking to treat themselves to romantic escapes, and there are numerous Pennsylvania resorts where golfers can find their bliss.
Pennsylvania is a hilly and mountainous state that gets its fair share of snow in the winter. As such, it only makes sense that it is home to numerous ski resorts. In the Poconos region alone, there are several quality ski resorts to choose from, and anyone who is visiting the western part of the state is all but guaranteed to have a blast at the Seven Springs Mountain Resort. As for other ideas, there are Pennsylvania ski resorts in virtually every region, so it can be easy to add some skiing or snowboarding to the itinerary when visiting the state during the winter season.
Of all the Pennsylvania ski resorts, none is more renowned than the Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Set at approximately 3,000 feet above sea level, Seven Springs is one of the highest ski resorts in the state, and its 285 acres of skiable terrain also makes it one of the state’s largest. The longest trail is more than a mile long, and plenty of lifts are in place to move skiers and snowboarders around regardless of the kinds of trails that they have in mind. The Seven Springs Mountain Resort is hardly just a skiing and snowboarding destination, however. You can visit year round, with other activity options including such things as hiking, fishing, golfing, and horseback riding. Add in all the other tempting activity options, the excellent lodging choices, and the variety of restaurants, and it only becomes more clear that the Seven Springs Mountain Resort can make for a fine place to both play and stay.
Another notable Pennsylvania resort that can be found in the western part of the state is the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort (pictured above). More specifically found south of Pittsburgh near the West Virginia border, this resort in Farmington features the 5 star Falling Rock boutique hotel, an upscale lodge, spacious townhomes, and impressive home rentals. Visitors to the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort can also opt to stay at the Maggie Valley RV Park, and the beautiful Chateau Lafayette offers lovely rooms to go with its extensive facilities. As for things to do at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, this luxurious retreat offers an award-winning spa, excellent dining options, two tempting golf courses, and a small ski resort. This is just the start, however, and chances are good that you will be blown away by the overall activity menu. Suffice it to say that getting bored really isn’t an option at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
The resorts in the Poconos definitely deserve some special attention when it comes to discussions about the various resorts in Pennsylvania. Among these resorts are several ski resorts, with examples including the Camelback Mountain Ski Resort and the Big Boulder Ski Area. Mountain ski resorts aren’t the only kinds of resorts that are found in the Poconos, however. There are plenty of resort hotels. Many of these resort hotels cater to families, and there are some couples-only resorts for couples who wish to enjoy romantic getaways. Only adding to the allure of the Poconos resorts is the fact that many offer amazing lakeside locations, and guests can stay busy any number of ways between the water, the land, and the resort facilities.
