Philadelphia Casinos
Sands Bethworks

NOTE: The Sands Bethworks Casino is not currently open. It is slated to open in 2009. Likewise, the Foxwoods Casino and Resort and SugarHouse Casino are both set for completion in 2009.

If you are headed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, there are a lot of ways to spend your time. For those looking to do a bit of gaming during their Philadelphia vacation, there are a couple good Philadelphia casinos to choose from. Both are found just a short distance from downtown, so after visiting such Philadelphia attractions as Independence Hall and the Betsy Ross House by day, you can head out at night and find a slice of Vegas action at the casinos in Philadelphia.

Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack in Chester, Pennsylvania, is one of your choices for casinos near Philadelphia, and it’s just twelve miles from downtown. Open seven days a week and twenty-four hours a day, Harrah’s is there to meet your gaming and entertainment needs around the clock. Visitors can choose to bet on both live horse racing and simulcast horse races at this casino, or they can opt to try their luck at the video slot machines. There are 100,000 square feet of gaming space in the Philadelphia Harrah’s Casino, and new decor helps to give the place a fresher feel. The slot machines here range in denominations from one penny on up to one hundred dollars so you don’t have to break the bank if you want to have a little gambling fun. Additional entertainment can be found in the casino’s EndZone Sports Bar and Grill, which is known for its live music, especially on weekend nights, and there are plenty dining establishments. Two of the nicer restaurants at Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack offer wonderful river and racetrack views, so you can relax while you eat and simply take it all in.

The Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack is your other choice for casinos near Philadelphia, though the number of Philadelphia casinos is growing with new additions all the time. The Philadelphia Park Casino just outside of town in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Live horse racing can be enjoyed Saturdays and Tuesdays throughout the year, with simulcast racing on the other days. If you prefer gambling of another kind, there are more than 2,700 slot and video poker machines to choose from with denominations ranging from one penny to one-hundred dollars. Blackjack and roulette are among the table games you will find at the Philadelphia Park Casino so your gambling in Philadelphia experience can be a complete one when you visit here. Distributed over the casino’s two floors is also a selection of three bars, and when hunger hits, you can opt between two restaurants for either a gourmet meal or a casual affair. Live music entertainment is provided for guests on the weekends in one of the bars, and at another you can enjoy a juicy steak while you watch sports on the high-definition TVs. If you want to do some gambling in Philadelphia, you definitely won’t want to miss the Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack, one of the best casinos near Philadelphia.

A few casino companies have recently been awarded gaming licenses by the Pennsylvania State Gaming Control Board, and by the looks of things these companies are pulling out all the stops when it comes to the kind of gambling in Philadelphia experience they promise. The Sands Bethworks Casino is just once such entry. The Sands Bethworks Casino offers slot machines and an array of dining choices, and also hotel rooms, museums, shopping outlets, and more. The Foxwoods Resort & Casino is another one of the Philadelphia casinos, and brings the same kind of class to its visitors as the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. It is located on the banks of the Delaware River in South Philadelphia. Much like the Sands Bethworks, the Foxwoods Casino complex offers much more than slot machines. An upscale hotel, a full-service spa, and a myriad of shops and restaurants are also onsite.

It doesn’t stop there, however, as the SugarHouse Casino will also open on the Delaware River riverfront. In addition to a casino, restaurants, and hotel rooms, the SugarHouse Casino also expects to offer a nice riverfront promenade for all to enjoy. Even if you aren’t enjoying the gaming and entertainment options at SugarHouse, you can still jog, bike, fish, or walk along the new promenade. When it comes to gambling in Philadelphia, things only get better as the years go by. The Philadelphia casinos are more like modern city centers, offering visitors a most complete experience. As a side note, if you are heading to Philadelphia, you might look into a side trip to nearby Atlantic City. You can hop on the train to Atlantic City at Philadelphia’s 30th StreetStation, and be in Atlantic City in just one and a half hours!
