Misquamicut Rhode Island

If you want to enjoy some time on the beach in Rhode Island, the small seaside town of Misquamicut is a good place to base yourself. You'll find Misquamicut just south of Westerly, which is the largest beachfront community in the southeast part of the state. It's just a 5 minute drive to Westerly from Misquamicut, and you can make it to the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut in just 15 minutes if that should interest you. There aren't many attractions in Misquamicut itself, save for the long beach, which is what most visitors come to enjoy. As one might imagine, summer is the best time to enjoy a Misquamicut vacation, as enjoying time on Misquamicut State Beach is the top thing to do here.
The Misquamicut beach stretches for seven miles, making it the longest beach in Rhode Island, and it boasts soft white sand and mostly pristine waters. The waters here can feature some pretty good surf at times, which is why there are many surf shops at the beach. There are also general swimwear shops along the beachfront in Misquamicut Rhode Island, so you can pick up supplies and such upon arrival if you need them. Whether you have rented a car or are driving to the Misquamicut beach in your own vehicle, you can find plenty of parking at the beach's state of the art bathing pavilion. The James J. Federico Jr. State Beach Pavilion was originally built in 1999 and then expanded in 2000. In addition to more than 2,500 parking spots, it also features heated shower stalls, composting toilets, shade-providing gazebos, lifeguard towers, and more.
When you're not swimming, surfing, or simply sunbathing on the long Misquamicut beach, you can rent a jet ski and go exploring along the shoreline. Families can visit the Atlantic Beach Park on the side and ride on water slides, zip along in go karts, hop on a carousel, or enjoy a round or two on the miniature golf course, among other things. Visiting the Water Wizz Water Fun Park in nearby Westerly is also something that you can consider when enjoying a summertime Misquamicut vacation. When it's time to break for lunch or dinner in Misquamicut Rhode Island, dining on fresh lobster and other seafood favorites is a treat. Seafood isn't the only thing on the menu at the restaurants here, and there are both casual restaurants and fine dining restaurants in the area, so you can choose accordingly. As for nightlife, you can dance at the local bars and clubs, opt to enjoy a few drinks at a laid back lounge, or simply enjoy a romantic dinner for two. On Tuesday nights in the summertime, free family movies are played on the big screen on the beach, so you can keep these movie showings in mind if you are traveling with kids.
Enjoying special events or festivals in Rhode Island is something that can add some extra depth to your trip, and in Misquamicut the Monday Night fireworks displays are among the special summertime events. For music fans, the Misquamicut Music Festival is another special event worth including in your Misquamicut vacation plans. This festival, which features plenty of live music performances, takes place in mid-July. While it's always a good idea to book your stay at one of the Misquamicut hotels in advance during the summer months, you'll especially want to consider doing so if you plan to visit during the Misquamicut Music Festival. There is a healthy supply of hotels both in and near Misquamicut Rhode Island, so you might just be in luck when it comes to finding lodging even if you show up to this part of the coast without reservations.
