Beaufort South Carolina Hotels

Beaufort South Carolina is one of the oldest towns in the United States, with settlements dating to the 16th century. Over 300 acres of land in town has been declared a National Historic Landmark thanks to the plethora of well-maintained buildings from as far back as the 17th century. Hotels in Beaufort South Carolina, like many of the towns in South Carolina (Charleston and Aiken come to mind) are often small and privately owned. Beaufort hotels just outside of town are often golf resorts or larger hotels.
One option for a hotel in Beaufort SC is The Beaufort Inn, built in 1897 and located in the heart of the historic district of Beaufort. This is one of the most popular hotels in Beaufort South Carolina, ranging in cost from $145 - $350 for a standard room or suite, respectively. The structure for this Beaufort hotel is one of the prettiest and most interesting in town and has even been featured in a number of different interior design spreads for decorating magazines and publications. Rates for the rooms at this hotel in Beaufort SC do include a full breakfast. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar.
The Rhett House Inn is another popular choice among hotels in Beaufort South Carolina, and is possibly the best-known Beaufort hotel outside of town. Its fame and popularity are due in large part to the building’s role in two major films; The Prince of Tides and Forrest Gump. Movies roles aside, this building dates to 1820 and is a cozy little inn with just 17 units and a full breakfast, afternoon tea and evening hors d’oeuvres served each day. Prices are between $195 and $325 for a room, and all rooms feature private bathrooms, soaking tubs and some fascinating period furniture. Families should note that children age 5 and under are not welcome.
Another of the most popular hotels in Beaufort South Carolina is the Two Suns Inn, a comfortable 5-unit bed and breakfast close to the center of town. The hotel has views of the water and was once the private home of a prominent Beaufort family. This hotel in Beaufort SC has a breakfast room and a lounge, and in addition to breakfast each morning serves snacks in the afternoon and evening. Prices for a room are between $135 and $200.
Folks looking for resort accommodation will be best served by heading to Hilton Head less than 30 minutes south of Beaufort. Large golfing resorts and golf resort packages are available in Hilton Head. Conversely, some travelers wishing to visit Hilton Head but avoid the high prices and busy traffic head for Beaufort and travel to the beaches of Hilton Head during the day. Like Hilton Head, however, tourists will find that hotels charge higher rates during the summer, specifically between June and August. Deals can be found by booking in May or September or during the winter. During the summer, be sure to make your reservations well in advance, as many of the smaller inns fill up quickly on summer weekends.
