Hilton Head Golf

The town of Hilton Head has long been a major tourist destination and draws more than 2 million visitors each year from nearby Savannah and Charleston as well as from throughout the country. While the many beaches and hiking trails are a big part of the draw, so are the Hilton Head golf courses, which exceed 30 in number and include some of the best courses available in the world. Hilton Head golf is famous for the 24 difficult courses designed with help from some of golfing’s biggest stars. Hilton Head golf is also famous for the great Hilton Head golf resorts that make staying on the island for golf a treat for golf enthusiasts.
Another of the reasons Hilton Head golf is so popular is the fact that most of the championship and tournament courses are open for the public to enjoy, giving novice golfers a chance to play the same courses as their professional heroes. The George Fazio Course, part of the Palmetto Dunes Resort, is one such course. This course has been ranked one of America’s top 75 courses and is open to public players from 6:30am until 6pm.
Hilton Head golf packages are one of the best ways for golfers to enjoy Hilton Head golf courses. All Hilton Head golf resorts will offer discounts on green fees for guests of their resort. To book Hilton Head golf packages, travelers can either call a resort directly or book a package through an online or national travel agent. One of the most popular Hilton Head golf resorts is the Palmetto Dunes Resort. Here guests will have access to both the George Fazio Course (mentioned above) and the Robert Trent Jones Course. The Jones Course is open from 7am until 6pm daily. Green fees for both of these courses are between $90 and $140, depending on the time of day (very early tee times tend to be less expensive). Hilton Head golf packages for guests of this Hilton Head golf resort will include green fees and reservations can be made for differing days.
Another of the most popular Hilton Head golf courses is the Old South Golf Links, also rated among the top 75 courses in the United States. This is also one of the more inexpensive courses, with green fees ranging from $60 to $90 per person. This course is actually located on the west side of the bridge to Hilton Head, just before you head to the island. Hilton Head National is yet another of the island’s best courses and fees are between $50 and $90. As a Gary Player Signature Golf Course, the fees are quite reasonable. Many players enjoy this course in particular because of the great views and scenery that can be enjoyed while playing.
The courses mentioned here are just a few of the courses available for play, and guests will find that there are some nice courses to challenge serious golfers as well as a few good courses for families or golfers who are just getting started. If you only plan to play one time, a golf package is not for you. Anyone planning to play at least two or three times, however, will want to look into saving money by booking a golf vacation package.
