Sturgis South Dakota Hotels

Sturgis South Dakota hotels are primarily in the category of well-known franchise names, and there are plenty to choose from in this town close to many South Dakota attractions and things to do.

Holiday Inn Express (pictured) is located at 2721 Lazelle Street. It's just north of the main downtown area off the main highway, Interstate 90, and next door to the Convention Center. The hotel offers a fitness center, swimming pool with waterslide, and complimentary hot breakfast. There are 84 spacious rooms and suites with flat-screen televisions equipped with cable movie and news channels, and high-speed Internet service. There are four restaurants in the hotel's parking lot area.

During the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally during the first week of August, the Holiday Inn Express offers free shuttle service to the downtown area and to Deadwood, breakfast with more food items and expanded hours, free cold bottled water during this hottest time of year, and a free cocktail in the evening. These kinds of promotions are typical of Sturgis SD accommodations during the rally week, and many properties have rally vacation packages of some sort. Be aware that most of these packages require a minimum stay, usually four nights, including the Saturday.

Most Sturgis South Dakota hotels are clustered along I-90 for easy access by car, and the town itself lies alongside the interstate. This means you really aren't too far from the downtown area in any of the properties.

Other than the Days Inn, Best Western, and Holiday Inn, most of the other Sturgis SD accommodations in the vicinity of town are motels. One of the best is probably the Super 8 Motel, located at 2600 Whitewood Service road just off the I-90 at exit 30 (the same exit for the Holiday Inn Express). Rooms are spacious and typical of good motels, with cable television, coffee maker, hair dryer, and iron and ironing board. The motel offers free high-speed Internet and free continental breakfast, and there is a small fitness room. Other motels include the Star-Lite Motel at 2426 Junction Avenue, the Lantern Motel at 1706 Junction Avenue, and the South Pine Motel at 1051 Park Street. These are all quite close to the central downtown area.

That really is about it for traditional Sturgis South Dakota hotels and motels. The reason for this lies in the beautiful natural settings that surround the town. Most people come here to enjoy these beautiful places and participate in the many outdoor activities available in places like the nearby Black Hills National Forest and the pristine lakes and rivers that provide fishing, swimming boating, and hiking opportunities. These people are looking for Sturgis SD accommodations that provide readier access to this natural beauty, and there are plenty of these in the form of rental cabins, camping areas, and resorts.

In this area, resorts are often cabin and/or camping resorts, like the No Name City RV Park & Cabins, located at 20899 Pleasant Valley about three miles south of downtown Sturgis just off the I-90. There is a lot for recreational vehicles that is big rig friendly and offers water and electricity, a camping site for tents, and 23 cabins with kitchenettes, televisions with DVD players, and high-speed Internet. The property offers heated swimming pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, Laundromats, shower facilities, barbecues, and dog walking areas. If you want something more luxurious and remote, there are agents in town specializing in deluxe cabin and lodge vacation rentals throughout the region.
