Dollywood

Dollywood

Dolly Parton, singer, songwriter and actress, joined together with Herschend Entertainment and planned and created one of the most visited attractions in Tennessee. Dolly Parton’s namesake amusement park, Dollywood Theme Park, is located close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Pigeon Forge. Dollywood Theme Park is a 125-acre park encompassing rides, live shows and many crafts by local artisans.

The most popular ride at Dolly wood Theme Park is the Smoky Mountain River Rampage which is an outdoor rafting adventure that’s full of twists and turns. The second most popular ride at Dollywood Theme Park is the Dollywood Express where a genuine 110-ton coal-fired steam engine takes park-goers on a 5-mile journey around the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Dollywood Amusement Park includes other rides and attractions such as the Mystery Mine coaster, Blazing Fury roller coaster and Daredevil Falls. Festivals and special events are favorites at Dollywood Amusement Park. Kidsfest runs from June 15 to August 5 and includes fun and fascinating magic shows for kids. BBQ and Bluegrass is exactly that! This is a free concert series hosted by Dollywood Amusement Park and features some of the best-known names in bluegrass. The National Gospel and Harvest Celebration and The Smoky Mountain Christmas festival are other fun celebrations at the park.

Saturdays can get really bust around Dollywood Tennessee in the summer months so if it’s an option try to visit the park during the week sometime. The Dollywood Tennessee Tornado and Thunderhead are popular rides found at the back of the park so head there earlier to beat the crowds. From April through to October anytime visitors go to Dollywood Tennessee after 3pm the next day is free! It’s a great way to save some extra cash and get to know the park and plan for the next day’s events.

If planning on visiting the park more than once the best way to do it is to get a season’s pass. Even if you only plan on going a few times, the pass is the most economical way. Dollywood Tennessee also has an enormous line-up of great, live shows, lots of theme shops, plenty of dining options and many craftsmen and artisans who showcase their work throughout the par which makes for a very unique shopping trip.

Dollywood cabins are available dotted all about Pigeon Forge and the area. There are many Dollywood cabins that are located right in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains and provide a great base for visiting Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and its equally charming neighbor of Gatlinburg. Dollywood cabins come in a range of sizes from one to eight bedrooms and more and many are pet-friendly so the family furry friend can join some of the fun too!

There are so many Dollywood cabins to choose from that the options are somewhat astounding! Many of the Dollywood cabins are located at the top of the mountain and provide stunning views of the valley below. Though you’ll feel like you’re miles and miles away you can still be close to convenient amenities in Pigeon Forge. A cabin rental is a great way to take advantage of an entire weekend of fun, or even a full-length vacation!
