Camping in Tennessee can be a really rewarding experience and depending on what camping locale is chosen it can be difficult as well. Everyone likes to camp differently. Some people like a range of convenient amenities to be provided by the campground while others prefer to bring in all that they need and deal with it on their own. The latter are usually people who camp often and are experienced in hiking into secluded areas and setting themselves. Camping in Tennessee has both with a variety of campgrounds, state parks and national parks which offer a range of camping in Tennessee for the experienced camper to the leisure camper.


There is an abundance of different Tennessee campgrounds. Pigeon Forge is home to several great Tennessee campgrounds as is Memphis. Gatlinburg, Clarksville and Nashville all accommodate campers with several well-planned Tennessee campgrounds. Many tourists take advantage of the affordable method of camping and choose to discover Tennessee, or parts of it, by basing themselves at one of the many Tennessee campgrounds and visiting area attractions. Others choose to camp in many different Tennessee campgrounds and drive to a few different cities and visit many different nearby attractions. No matter which way you and your family choose to spend your vacation there are plenty of campsites with a host of different amenities to suit all.


Tennessee campgrounds are located all over the state but the nicest ones are found close to or in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Amenities offered at campgrounds in Tennessee range but most provide restrooms and hot showers, shaded sites, laundry facilities, different on-site activities, electric hookups, firewood and convenience shop. Many campgrounds in Tennessee also offer pools as well as cabin rentals.


The most visited cities in Tennessee are Nashville and Memphis because of their lengthy histories and fantastic attractions. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are well-visited because of their close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains Park and beautiful natural scenery. They also provide more choice in hotels, car rentals and other amenities. Tennessee camping near major cities can be fun if that’s where the attractions you want to see are but Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge remain the ones with the best and most naturally beautiful Tennessee camping sites available.


Clabough’s Campground in Pigeon Forge is located just a stone’s throw from the park and offers convenient amenities such as 4 bathhouses 2 swimming pools, concrete patios on most sites, large games room, a grocery store and a restaurant open 7 days pre week. They are only half a mile off the main parkway in Pigeon Forge yet offer a quiet and restful location for Tennessee camping.


Crazy Horse Campground in Gatlinburg is a lovely mountain community in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains National Park. Tennessee camping is at some of its finest here as the campground is surrounded by mountain streams and magnificent wooded acres yet is only a few minutes drive from all Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg attractions, dining and shopping. This campground has endless features! A picnic Pavilion, nature walks, swimming pool, great fishing nearby, a recreation center with tons of games and activities, playgrounds, mini-mart and much more.


When planning on Tennessee camping, don’t forget to investigate all possibilities. There are plenty of national and state parks that offer tourists the chance to get out into nature and explore the state’s landscape and wildlife.
