Galveston

One of the most popular year-round coastal destinations in Texas is Galveston. It is an island in the Gulf of Mexico. You can still take a road trip here because it is still connected to the main land by a bridge. It is a city that offers many historical and cultural attractions, water sports and is a beautiful resort. Galveston travel has its business sense downtown, but also offers many rental residences with beach access.

Galveston was named after Bernardo de Galvez. He was Spanish Colonial governor and general. He sent Jose de Evia to explore the Gulf of Mexico, and he founded it in 1786. Almost 40 years after Galveston makes it tracks on the map, a pirate named Jean Lafitte came to Galveston. He renamed it Campeche. It became a village for pirates. This is where its party origins began. Maybe if you are lucky you can find some buried treasure under there.

One of the best times to see the Galveston attractions is just before fat Tuesday. People will gather in the streets of Galveston for 12 days to celebrate Mardi Gras. This Galveston attraction is full of live music, parades, parties and of course wild costumes. Once the party is over, and then reminisce at the Mardi Gras Museum.

Galveston travel has much to offer beyond the confines of Mardi Gras. Try a venture to the Big Reef Nature Park. Bird watchers will especially find this appealing as a multitude of birds flutter their wings across the horizon. Your elation will be heightened when you walk along he East Lagoon Nature Trail to capture a look at the wildlife. If hiking is not your idea of vacation, then go to the East Beach. This so happens to be the largest beach in Texas. Many activities are awaiting your arrival such as concerts, volleyball, shopping, and bikini contests. Admiring tourists want to know what the wealthiest businessman in Texas lives in. Visit the Ashton Villa. This is a luxurious mansion from the 1800’s.

One of the most famous Galveston attractions is the Moody Garden. Yes, Moody Garden Galveston Texas is the premiere destination in Galveston. It offers three gigantic glass pyramids and luxury hotels. It’s like a space age Egypt. Lush tropical gardens, white beaches and clear blue lagoons surround Moody Garden Galveston Texas. The Robinson Crusoe story is alive and well and living in the Moody Garden Galveston Texas. One of the most spectacular things to see is the Rainforest Pyramid. It is ten stories of glass that houses a tropical forest, waterfalls, cliffs, caverns, and wildlife. It is truly a Galveston attraction that all should see. You owe it to Galveston travel to visit the Moody Garden.

Once thoroughly amazed with Moody Garden, head for the historic downtown district. You eyes will be anxious to see the Strand Shopping District. The Moody family also has a mansion to walk around in that has been there since the late 1800’s. It is created with a beautiful Victorian stroke. And as soon as the darkness dawns visit the Pier 21 Theater for a film in this restored historic theater.

Galveston travel is at your fingertips. Galveston attractions are close at hand and only a plane ride or car ride away.
