Boerne Texas

Boerne Texas, like many towns in the Texas Hill Country, combines Old World flair with the spirit of the frontier. This charming town, about 30 miles north of San Antonio, was once settled by Germans looking for a version of Utopia in the New World. While their vision never quite came to be, the founding settlers would be proud of what their little town has become. Today, there are many things to do in Boerne perfect for tourists, making this a great addition to your Texas itinerary.

Main Street, called the Hauptstrausse, has long been a gathering place. Even today, many of the things do in Boerne are found along the Hauptstrausse The visitor center on the south end of this street is an excellent place to begin your journey through Boerne Texas. Once a month, the galleries host one of the most popular of all Boerne Texas events, the Second Saturday Art and Wine. When the day arrives, visitors, artists, and local residents gather downtown beginning at 5 p.m. to see the latest works of art, meet their creators, and savor a glass of wine. One of the local restaurants runs a trolley, making it easy and fun to get from gallery to gallery.
