San Antonio Nightlife

San Antonio nightlife offers up a number of different possibilities. For starters, there are a few major concert venues around town, and you can always try to plan your visit around one of the livelier festivals. Many of the festivals, such as the San Antonio Fiesta, offer plenty of nighttime entertainment, not to mention abundant food and drink options. As for where to find a good San Antonio night club, the city isn't known for having a plethora, but you might start your search along North St. Mary's Street. The portion of this street that can be found between Magnolia and Josephine Streets has long been a top destination for clubbing.
When searching for a San Antonio night club, you might also focus on the Riverwalk. There are a few good clubs in this part of town, though they tend to close early due to noise restrictions. In general, the clubs in the Riverwalk are touristy, given the tourist-friendly nature of the area. If you can't find a club that suits your fancy in the Riverwalk area, there should be at least one bar that can serve as a good alternative. The bars downtown in general run the gamut, and many are within walking distance of one another.
San Antonio entertainment comes in many different forms, and there definitely is no shortage of fun things to do once the sun goes down. In the city's Main Plaza, there are often free concerts, and any number of bars and clubs offer live music as well. You can see a Tejano music performance on almost any given night, and conjunto concerts are also popular. Conjunto is a kind of music that was created when German immigrant waltz and polka music morphed with Mexican folk music. Should concerts be what you have in mind when it comes to San Antonio entertainment, checking the event schedules at the city's main concert venues can be a good idea when planning a trip. These venues include the Alamodome, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, and the AT&T Center.
Speaking of the AT&T Center, sports fans will want to keep this downtown venue in mind when trying to come up with some San Antonio nightlife ideas. The San Antonio Spurs of the NBA play their home games at the AT&T Center. You can also check out the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars at the AT&T Center, while hockey fans might prefer a Rampage game. Some of the downtown bars are sports bars, which is also good news for sports enthusiasts who are looking to have a good time in San Antonio after dark.
San Antonio Theater

Performing arts enthusiasts are also covered when it comes to San Antonio nightlife, thanks largely in part to the Majestic Theater and the Empire Theater. Both of these theaters are historic gems, and they host the majority of the city's shows. If you want to take in a movie, you can expect to find cinemas at the city's malls, including the Rivercenter Mall. There's also the Mission Drive-In, which can be found south of downtown at 3100 Roosevelt Avenue. This drive-in theater has been a fixture on the San Antonio entertainment scene since it debuted in 1947 and can be an excellent place to see a movie. Back at the Rivercenter Mall, San Antonio visitors can also find out what's showing at the IMAX Theater.
San Antonio nightlife pretty much offers it all, and since the city is full of great restaurants, dining out can always figure into the plans. Some of the best restaurants in town, it should be noted, also offer the best bars around, so you might keep that in mind. As for getting ideas for any and all things related to San Antonio entertainment, a local newspaper called Current offers tips, and you can always check out the entertainment section of the San Antonio Express-News. Depending on which hotel you stay at, you might inquire about the various San Antonio nightlife options at the front desk or the concierge desk. Locals can be the best resource when it comes to finding fun things to do, regardless of the time of day.
