Tower of the Americas

Tower of the Americas rises to an elevation of 750 feet above the beautiful city of San Antonio. A Texas landmark, this San Antonio Tower, which is akin to Seattle's Space Needle in many ways, can be found in HemisFair Park in the downtown area. As you might imagine, the scintillating views of the city from the top of the Tower of the Americas are part of the reason why so many people include this attraction on the itinerary while in town. In addition to enjoying awesome views of the Alamo City, those who choose to visit this renowned tower can also entertain the option of getting some drinks at the bar, having a meal at the rotating restaurant, or riding the 4D Theater Ride.
The Tower of the Americas was built just in time for HemisFair '68. This world's fair was the first international exhibition of its type to be celebrated anywhere in the Southwest. Between the years of 1968 and 1996, no other observation tower in the country was taller than this lofty San Antonio Tower. That claim now goes to the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas.
Ever since it opened back in 1968, the Tower of the Americas has been the place to go if you want to enjoy panoramic views of San Antonio and the city's best attractions. A magnificent circular observation deck is just one of the places from which to enjoy the Tower of the Americas view, with the north side affording the best views of the skyline. Visitors can also enjoy the views from the rotating Tower of the Americas restaurant or the non-rotating cocktail lounge. It is worth noting that the observation deck is partly open air. The interior part is a banquet room that is used for meetings, weddings, and other events.
The Tower of the Americas restaurant is easily one of the most popular restaurants in San Antonio, and it's not hard to understand why. Juicy steaks, fresh seafood, and rich desserts are among the things that you can dine on at this restaurant. Enjoying the views while you savor the food only accentuates the overall experience. While the Tower of the Americas restaurant can seat up to 250 people and accommodate another 75 at the bar, making reservations in advance is a good idea, especially on weekends.
When you aren't enjoying a good meal, grabbing some drinks, or taking in the immaculate views on a visit to the top of the Tower of the Americas, you might check out the gift shop or see what the 4D Theater Ride is all about. The 4D Theater Ride that can be enjoyed at the top of this multifaceted San Antonio tower is an interactive, sensory experience. While riding along on a small rollercoaster of sorts, visitors enjoy scenes that relate to everyday life in Texas. One of the scenes takes a look at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, for example.
A Tower of the Americas ticket includes a go around on the 4D Theater Ride, as well as entrance to the Observation Deck. The 4D Theater Ride is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. These are the same hours for the observation deck. The restaurant at this landmark San Antonio Tower is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Enjoying a Happy Hour session at the Tower of the Americas bar can also be an excellent way to start things off when looking to enjoy some San Antonio nightlife.
