South Padre Island Beaches

South Padre Island beaches are the real star of this destination, even though nightlife and entertainment are a large part of the attraction and tend to get a lot of the attention as well. Travelers including families, couples, college students on spring break, and seniors all head to South Padre Island throughout the year to sink their toes in the golden sand and enjoy the variety of water sports available. Whether you want to spend a day fishing, hop aboard a dolphin tour, or simply build a sand castle and work on your tan, you are sure to return home with plenty of South Padre Beach pictures. While most visitors wind up setting up their beach chair at the beach closest to their hotel, there are also more options to explore.

One of the best South Padre Island beaches is Isla Blanca Park. This island is known for having some of the widest and cleanest beaches in the whole state of Texas, and Isla Blanca Park is no exception. Traditional beach activities will keep you entertained here including reading a book while soaking up the sun or trying some of the local adventure sports like parasailing, renting a jet ski, or giving surfing a try. At the southern tip of this beach is Well’s Point, a jetty known for excellent fishing and as a spot for catching a glimpse of dolphins. Sunset is one of the best times for South Padre beach pictures. Plan a sunset horseback riding tour for opportunities for memorable photographs.

Another of the top choices for South Padre Island beaches is the Padre Island National Seashore. This undeveloped stretch of beach is perfect for visitors who are looking for a little peace and quiet during their trip. While South Padre Island is known for its nightlife and entertainment, you would never know it while strolling along the undisturbed shores of Padre Island National Seashore. Lounging on the beach, fishing, and watching local wildlife are all popular activities on this protected stretch of beach.

Some South Padre beach pictures feature Port Isabel. This port is the closest part of the Texan mainland to South Padre Island. From Port Isabel, visitors cross over a causeway to reach South Padre Island. Port Isabel has its own shopping and dining, as well as options for fishing excursions. Some visitors choose affordable hotels or RV parks in Port Isabel, and there are places for sunbathing here too, although many people prefer to cross the causeway to South Padre Island for its excellent beaches.

After a few days of soaking up the sun you might be looking for another way to enjoy the beautiful weather. Schlitterbahn Waterpark is full of rides, a surfing wave, and other family-friendly attractions. If you’re traveling with kids, they are going to love the 5-story sandcastle at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. This is a great option for entertainment, but some people never leave the sun-drenched beaches of South Padre Island. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take a boat tour, whether for watching dolphins, snorkeling, or a general sunset tour. These tours will provide some of the best South Padre beach pictures you could take.
