When To Go

The best time to take a vacation in Texas is in time for one of many festivals. The weather ranges from sunny to partly sunny. It is a weatherman’s dream job. It does get warm in the summer, but spring and fall are delightful. Since weather is not a problem, then it is time to focus in on one of your favorite Texas vacation spots for upcoming festivals. .

Texas is one of the most diverse populations in the union and with that comes unique attractions in Texas. One of the most notable annual festivals is the Charro days. People claim that this is the oldest fiesta in Texas, which began in February of 1938. Brownsville is one of the Texas vacation spots at the southern tip of Texas. This is a week long celebration full of parades, dancing, and a wide variety of fun events to get involved in.

Another way to spend a vacation in Texas is at the Great Texas Mosquito Festival. Texas is not only known for its barbecue and bulls, but its mosquitoes. People celebrate in Clute by having barbecue/fajita cook offs, paintball tournament, karaoke, a mosquito chase run and more. It’s the only time of the year to be happy about such a pest. And it is only an hour and half away from Houston. Take a rest from the city life and experience a classic Texas Festival.

There are more attractions in Texas such as, the Rattlesnake roundup, which is only 3 hours from Dallas. This festival has been around since the 1960’s. Hundreds of snakes are brought on to look at, arts and crafts to browse and purchase as well as nationally known musical entertainment in the evenings. This is certainly a unique Texas festival.

True to Texas reputation is the big State Fair of Texas. This is an enormous amount of entertainment in one place for three weeks. It is one of the Texas vacation spots that you need to visit for. It is based in the metropolis of Dallas and puts on an auto show, carnival, art competition and the famous “Red River Shoot-out.”

An annual festival that has endured for the past 60 years is the Strawberry Festival. This celebration draws over 100,000 people to small town of Poteet. It is crowded for one reason, and that is because famous country musicians set up on stage and play till the cows come home.

There are many other festivals in Texas to see, such as the Texas Renaissance Festival, Texas Rose Festival, and Wurstfest. Your stomach starts to rumble at the Wurstfest and it doesn’t stop for 10 days. The best part is that it is only a half and hour from San Antonio. You can pass by the Alamo or the San Fernando Cathedral on your way to dinner.

The attractions in Texas seem endless. The weather is great, the people are welcoming and the culture is magnanimous. A vacation in Texas will bring a smile as wide as Texas to show a true appreciation for it.
