If you are visiting Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon National Park or Lake Powell you might be looking for Kanab lodging. Like other areas in Utah, many of the Kanab lodging facilities are chain hotels and motels. However, if you are looking for a unique Kanab Utah hotel, look no further than the Parry Lodge. This interesting Kanab lodging venue was founded in 1931 by the three Parry brothers, whose names were Whitney, Chauncey and Gronway. Back in 1924, the brothers assisted with the transportation needs of Deadwood Coach, which was the first movie ever made in Southern Utah. They enjoyed the company of movie people so much, that they decided to open a Kanab Utah hotel to provide lodging for the stars when they were being filmed at various Utah locations.
Close your eye and imagine what it must have been like to stay at this Kanab Utah hotel during Hollywood’s Golden Age, when the Parry’s guest register included names such as John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Olivia De Havilland, Gregory Peck, Maureen O'Hara, Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, Robert Taylor, Anne Bancroft, Dean Martin, Lana Turner, Clint Eastwood and Barbara Stanwyck. Today, the Parry Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guests of the hotel can enjoy Western films at the Old Barn Theater, which is located on the hotel property. Other amenities at this Kanab Utah hotel include:
- Heated pool
- Spa hot tub
- Spacious patios
- Ample level parking
- Soda and snack vending
- Free local calls
- Guest laundry
Although the Parry Hotel can provide a somewhat “campy” experience, those of you who would prefer to sleep in the great outdoors would probably prefer to find a Kanab campground. The RV Coral Kanab Campground has sites that include hot showers, pool and laundromat. They are open all year round. The Hitch N’ Post Kanab Campground also has showers, and is also open all year. The Crazy Horse Campark is open from mid April until late October. They have a pool, a store and a game room.
Happy couples looking for a romantic Utah vacation will enjoy staying at a Kanab Bed and Breakfast. Viola’s Garden describes itself as a “1912 Sears Roebuck Catalogue Home.” They invite you to sit back and enjoy the ambience of a Kanab Bed and Breakfast that takes you back to the days when life was much simpler.
