Provo Utah

Provo Utah

In the year 1849, Provo Utah was settled by 33 families from Salt Lake City. Today, Provo Utah is home to the Brigham Young University which is operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as the Provo Utah Temple. Many visitors come to this area specifically for a drive along the Provo Canyon Scenic Byway. Four miles up from the Provo Canyon is where you will find Bridle Veil Falls. Although the falls are a popular summer attraction, in the winter, an icefall just to the right of the falls attracts a number of experienced ice climbers. The icefall has been appropriately named the Stairway to Heaven.

The Cascade Springs are located near the Provo Canyon Scenic Byway. This is the place to see the clear, cool water that cascades down the mountain over limestone terraces, which were created over time from the water's deposits. Boardwalks and paths have been constructed around the pools so that you can get a close look at the crystal water, lush vegetation, and trout. The plant life at Cascade Springs includes wildflowers, aspen, and oak. If you enjoy camping and year-round fishing, Deer Creek State Park is situated right along the Provo Canyon Scenic Byway. Boating, windsurfing, sailing, and swimming are also very popular activities at Deer Creek.

When you explore the Provo restaurant scene, you will find that the area is predominantly characterized by fast food and American cuisine. If you are looking for good barbeque, you are in luck! Pa Pa’s Southern Smoked Utah Barbeque at 2235 University Place is a barbeque lover’s heaven! This Provo restaurant offers a variety of delicious barbeque choices. All meals come with cole slaw, crisp green salad, baked tater casserole, tater wedges, tater salad, baked beans or vegetable. You also have a choice of bread; french bread, corn bread or roll.

If you are looking for a Provo restaurant that serves pizza, the Brick Oven at 111 East 800 North was voted Best Family Restaurant and Best Pizza in the Utah Valley. They also serve a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. Be sure to try out one of their delicious fruit smoothies.

If you prefer to catch your own fare to satisfy your hunger, Provo River fly fishing is another highly popular Utah activity. In addition to brown trout, your Provo River fly fishing experience will bring you close to rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout.

No matter how you slice it, Provo Utah has what any tourist would want in good food and great scenery. If you ever make it to the area be sure to take it all in.
