Downtown Salt Lake City Hotels

Downtown Salt Lake City hotels offer a number of choices to fit a range of budgets, and even if you stay at one of the more luxurious establishments, getting a good deal will likely be possible. Thanks in part to the 2002 Olympics and the building boom that it created, there is a surplus of rooms in the Utah capital's downtown area. As a result, it is rare to pay full price for Downtown Salt Lake City lodging, and you might be surprised at the quality of the room that you get for the cost. It's always possible to save money at the cheap hotels in Downtown Salt Lake City, but since the rates are relatively friendly across the board, splurging on a more upscale guest unit is worth considering.

For those who are interested in luxurious Downtown Salt Lake City lodging, there are a number of excellent hotels to choose from, including the five star Grand America Hotel. In addition to 775 spacious rooms and suites, the Grand America Hotel features some tantalizing facilities, with the spa being reason enough to book a stay for some. If you can't quite swing the rates at the Grand America Hotel, or you simply prefer spending less, right across the street is the AAA Four Diamond Little America Hotel (pictured). Luxurious enough for most, this sister property of the Grand America offers 850 guest units that are also spacious and fairly upscale. When guests aren't relaxing in their rooms, they might visit one of the two onsite restaurants, relax by the indoor-outdoor pool, or see what the hotel's small shopping center has to offer.

In addition to considering the Grand America and the Little America hotels, travelers who are interested in booking a stay at one of the more luxurious Downtown Salt Lake City hotels might also keep the Hotel Monaco and the Marriott City Center in mind. The former offers a relatively quirky appeal, as is typical of boutique hotels, and its main restaurant is one of the best in town. At the contemporary Marriott City Center, in-room perks include marble bathrooms and premium bedding, while an attractive indoor pool, a popular signature restaurant, and 15,000 square feet of meeting space are just some of the facilities that can be taken advantage of.

Downtown Salt Lake City lodging offers a lot in the way of variety, and for those who want to blend luxury with even more affordability, hotels such as the Hilton Garden Inn Salt Lake City Downtown and the historic Peery Hotel can be ideal places to stay. In 2009, the Hilton Garden Inn SLC Downtown was deemed the best Hilton Garden Inn in the world, and this has a lot to do with the quality of the 132 rooms. Standard in-room amenities include large flat-screen televisions, premium bedding, large work desks with ergonomic chairs, and refrigerators. As for the Peery Hotel, it is a historic hotel that has figured among the best in town since it opened way back in 1910. Some of the tasteful rooms at the delightful Peery Hotel offer mini fridges and jetted tubs, and as is true at many of the other Downtown Salt Lake City lodging establishments, high-speed Internet access is free.

When mid-price or cheap hotels in Downtown Salt Lake City are the aim, there will be plenty of options to choose from. Mid-price gems include extended stay hotels like the Residence Inn City Center and the Springhill Suites, while those who are interested in cheap hotels might prefer the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel, or even cheaper establishments, such as the Comfort Inn or even the Motel 6.

Both the Residence Inn City Center and the Springhill Suites are clean, comfortable, and offer tasteful suites. The Plaza Hotel enjoys an excellent location just steps from Temple Square, while the Comfort Inn offers a number of free perks to go with its low rates. The Comfort Inn is cleaner and better equipped than the Motel 6 and should more than suffice when cheap hotels in Downtown Salt Lake City are what you have in mind. That being said, the Motel 6 rates are among the lowest around.
