Hiking Trips in Utah

Has the crystal ball predicted a Utah hiking trip in your future? You are in luck! Hiking in Utah is the best way to experience its exciting landscapes. If you are in good shape, you can even explore some of the remote areas that are inaccessible by vehicle. To help you plan your vacation, we’ve outlined some of the best hiking trips in Utah.

In general, when people are planning their hiking trips in Utah, they usually choose one of five hiking regions.

Utah Hiking in the Wasatch Front: The Wasatch Front offers a variety of Utah hiking trails for all levels of skill and fitness. For an easy hiking experience, try the beautiful 3.3 mile trail on the Ogden River Parkway. If you are interested in trying one of the more challenging hiking trails in Utah, consider the Mount Olympus Trail. The Summit brings you 4050 feet above the trailhead.

Northern Mountain Hiking in Utah: The Northern Mountains outside of Logan provide some great opportunities for hiking trips in Utah. The terrain is varied, and hikers of all levels will have no trouble finding trails to suit them. The one-mile Limber Pine Trail loop at the summit of Logan Canyon overlooking Bear Lake is one of the easier hiking trails in Utah. For more of a challenge, the Naomi Peak is the highest point in the Bear River Mountains of northern Utah. Although the limestone range is extremely rugged, the outstanding views from the top of this Utah hiking trail are worth the effort.

Hiking Utah Dinosaur Land: Jurassic Park, here we come! Eastern Utah offers some fascinating hiking trails. Here, you will find a land of amazing contrasts. The towering Uinta Mountains trails lead you to flowered foothills, and then to high-elevation deserts. Soil erosion has exposed mountains of rock that display the fossil imprints from dinosaurs, crocodiles, sharks as well as other forms of life. The Dinosaur National Monument is one of the most unique hiking trails in Utah. Here, your Utah hiking experience will make you privy to the largest quarry of Jurassic Period dinosaur bones that has ever been discovered.

Great Basin Hiking Trails in Utah: The vast and open Great Basin trails provide an experience of solitude. The South and North Willow Canyons lead to a variety of diverse mountain trails in the Stansbury Mountains. The Stansburys are home to Tooele County's highest point, Deseret Peak. This is where you will find the Deseret Peak Wilderness, which is one of Utah's most beautiful desert environments.

Utah Hiking in the Red Rock Province: The Southern regions of the Red Rock Province include Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase, Escalante, Capitol Reef, and nearby Grand Canyon. These national park areas are home to the most frequently visited hiking trails in Utah.
