Utah Hunting

Utah Hunting

There are a variety of species that are commonly hunted in Utah. These include mule deer, elk, antelope, pheasant, ducks, geese, sage grouse, forest grouse, chukar partridge, mourning dove, and wild turkeys. Before you embark on your trip, make sure that you obtain a Utah hunting license. Information can be found at http://wildlife.utah.gov/index.php

For the best experience, you will also want to choose from one of the many Utah hunting guides. Here are just a few of them.

Aside from obtaining a Utah hunting license, there are a number of Utah hunting regulations that must be observed. If you were born after December 31st, 1965, you will be required to take a hunter education course. While this may seem like one of the harsher Utah hunting regulations, it is an important one. In 1957 Utah experienced 126 hunting-related accidents. Sadly, 22 of those accidents were fatal. Since this accident rate was not tolerable, the state decided to add mandatory hunter education to the Utah hunting regulations.

Other Utah hunting regulations pertaining to species that may not be hunted are in effect. You can download the sensitive species list at http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/ucdc/ViewReports/sslist.htm.
