Chesapeake

Chesapeake

The city of Chesapeake Virginia is located in Chesapeake County in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, an area full of great opportunities to visit historic attractions, contemporary locals, and educational museums. Chesapeake Virginia is lucky enough to be at the center of Hampton Roads, and therefore is a perfect jumping off point for visiting the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Chesapeake Beach, or to get in some excellent Chesapeake Bay fishing, in addition to all the other attractions, waterways and parks that await you in Chesapeake Virginia.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is one Chesapeake attraction you won’t want to miss. Located between Virginia Beach and Virginia's Eastern Shore, this bridge is a 17.6 mile toll facility considered to be one of seven man-made wonders of the world. The time it takes to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is approximately 25 minutes, or more depending on how slow you drive in order to take in the majestic views of the waterway. Chesapeake Bay Bridge bus parking is available at the north and south toll plaza as well as many scenic-view stops.

You’ll also want to visit a Chesapeake Beach along the Chesapeake Bay, a treat for those who appreciate stunning views and relaxing time spent burying your toes in the sand, or for those interested in Chesapeake Bay fishing. A day trip to a Chesapeake Beach is all many visitors need, but some appreciate a longer stay, especially visitors taking part in Chesapeake Bay fishing who will require at least an entire weekend to reel in a trophy catch. Chesapeake Beach time can be made even more enjoyable if you make reservations to rent a sea kayak or bring along an outdoor adventure guide, some who are even specialists in Chesapeake Bay fishing.

If you’re a dog lover or an outdoor enthusiast, Chesapeake Virginia will cater to you with three area dog parks and other great outdoor activities such as golf, and skate parks. If you have kids you can also check out the Chesapeake Virginia Fun Forest, a children’s playground and imagination center built by over 1,800 volunteers from private, public, and community sectors. The park has been open since 1995, and was the winner of the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society “Best New Facility in Virginia” in 1996.

For a great place to stay in Chesapeake, why not rent a cabin or camp along the South George Washington Parkway. Chesapeake Campground and Cottages offers 133 different sites on 20 acres. Restrooms, showers, laundry, picnic tables, camping cabins, bike and canoe rentals are also available. Contact Chesapeake Campground and Cottages directly for seasonal rate information, and have a great time enjoying all the great Chesapeake Virginia attractions from your tent, cabin, or hotel room.
