Richmond Hotels

When planning a visit to Richmond, Virginia, the state capitol and former capitol of the Southern Confederacy, take some time to investigate hotels in Richmond. Richmond hotels are numerous and there’s at least one or two to fit the style and budget of every Richmond visitor.

Richmond Virginia hotels, especially those hotels in downtown Richmond Virginia, can range from the historic to the newly built and renovated. For a more historic experience, try the Jefferson Hotel, a historic hotel opened in 1895. The Jefferson offers 264 guest rooms and suites, each with marble bath, mini-bar, bathrobes, in-room safe, CD player, dual-line telephones with voice mail, Frette linens and cable television with on-command movies. The hotel also offers 24-hour concierge and room service, complimentary downtown car service, full service fitness facility with indoor pool and two restaurants, including Lemaire, Richmond's only Five Diamond restaurant. This is one of a few historic hotels in downtown Richmond Virginia, located just 9 miles from Richmond International Airport.

Another example of historic hotels in downtown Richmond Virginia is the Linden Row Inn. This hotel was originally built in the 1840s and is a boutique 70-room hotel located in historic Richmond. Features include fireplaces, chandeliers, and high ceilings as well as all standard modern conveniences, in addition to free continental breakfast.

Hotels in Richmond also include those built in the modern day, such as the Marriott Residence Hotel, the Radisson, the Red Roof Inn and more. For hotels in downtown Richmond Virginia that cater to the budget minded, try Econo lodge, or Days Inn, economical hotels that offer all standard guest amenities as well as outdoor pools. For many, Richmond Virginia hotels are more about a place to lay your head than somewhere to luxuriate, so don’t worry if your hotel doesn’t feature 400 count linens, even at budget hotels in downtown Richmond, you’ll feel comfortable and well taken care of.

If you had a bed & breakfast in mind, hotels in Richmond offer three distinct choices:

Grace Manor Inn

Features 3 large guest suites with private baths, a business center, a formal dining room, a sunroom, and three formal parlors. Each of the parlors is filled with tiffany chandeliers, stained glass windows, crystal chandeliers, and ornate plaster ceiling reliefs and moldings. In 1996 Grace Manor was awarded a Certificate for Historic Preservation by the United States Department of Interior and is on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Daily rates start around $125 per night.

The William Miller House

Greek-Revival style home was built by William Miller, proprietor of the Rogers and Miller Marbleworks, in 1869. Features include original marble mantles, period window glass, as well as central air conditioning and newly tiled baths. The house offers two rooms for guests, one queen-bedded; the other king-bedded, each with private bath offering both tub and shower. Rooms are non-smoking. A full gourmet breakfast is served each morning.

West-Bocock House

This circa 1817 historic house lies in the heart of Richmond. Features include elegant guest rooms with private baths, French linens, fresh flowers, full breakfast, and off-street parking. Convenient to museums, historic sites, restaurants, shopping, and the Virginia Commonwealth University.

From Richmond hotels, bed & breakfasts and value-oriented motels as well as the historic hotels in downtown Richmond Virginia, visitors to Richmond have many accommodations to choose from. As always, book your stay in advance and if you’re not within walking distance of major attractions, look into transportation options including car rental or public bus service.
