Virginia Beach Flights

Virginia Beach flights are hot commodities, especially between mid-spring and fall. The summer months see the greatest influx of tourist traffic and are generally the most difficult times to find cheap flights to Virginia Beach. You can save yourself a lot of hassle and some money in the process by booking your flight and hotel accommodations as far in advance of your vacation as possible. In this way, you’ll stand a far better chance of securing favorable rates and ensuring availability of the hotel where you wish to stay. Make sure to check out the booking tool located on this page; it will compare flight and hotel deals across many popular booking sites for you.
Even though Virginia Beach is officially the largest city in the state of Virginia, there is no international airport. This is due in large part to the fact that the city is primarily a coastal destination. The good news is that there are a couple of viable airports within close range of Virginia Beach.
The closest major airport to Virginia Beach is Norfolk International Airport (ORF). It is located approximately thirteen miles from Virginia Beach. A large percentage of the people traveling to Virginia Beach fly into Norfolk International Airport en route to their final destination. It is the main airport that serves coastal Virginia, including Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Newport News, and more. There are a number of major airline carriers that provide service to and from Norfolk International Airport, including Delta, Continental, Southwest, United Express, and American Airlines.
Norfolk International Airport serves over 3 million passengers every year. As such, it offers a wide variety of facilities and services. You will find ground transportation services, information desks, gift shops, and restaurants and bars. Business travelers can access wireless Internet services for a small fee at the airport where there are also conference facilities and a range of other business services. There are a number of ways to get to Virginia Beach from Norfolk International Airport. Being as close as it is from the Resort Area, your hotel or resort may provide complimentary transport. If not, you have the option of taking your own rental car, shuttles, or airport taxis. It is always advisable to book your rental car along with your Virginia Beach flights so you can lock in a good price and make sure you get the vehicle you want.
The other airport that may be used to access Virginia Beach is the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. This is a much smaller hub located about 34 miles to the northwest of Virginia Beach. It is served by AirTran, Delta, Frontier, and U.S. Airways. You are not likely to find nearly as cheap of flights as you will find at the much larger Norfolk International Airport. If you do end up flying into Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport, it is a painless drive into the Virginia Beach.
Once you have all of your arrangements in place in terms of flights, hotel accommodations, and car rentals, you can turn your attention to what you plan to do and see in Virginia Beach. There are all kinds of attractions, including the Virginia Aquarium and the Oceana Naval Air Station, as well as outdoor activities, from jet skiing and snorkeling to surfing and sailing.
