One of the best times to visit Edmonds Washington is over Father’s Day Weekend. This is when the Edmonds Arts Festival is in full swing. One of the oldest festivals of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, this annual celebration revolves around all kinds of artistic disciplines, and art enthusiasts have plenty of opportunities to purchase works directly from the artists who created them. More than 200 exhibitors showcase their works, and adding to the atmosphere are storytellers and musicians. Tens of thousands of visitors pour into town during the Edmonds Arts Festival, so anyone hoping to stay overnight during the popular three-day event is encouraged to secure accommodations well in advance.

Perusing the goods at the Edmonds Market is one of the top things to do in Edmonds Washington during the warmer season. More officially known as the Edmonds Museum Summer Market, this shopper’s delight is open on Saturdays from early May to early October. Primarily a farmers market, the Edmonds Market features booths that sell vegetables, seafood, cuts of meat, cheeses, baked goods and a variety of other food related products. Flowers and artwork are also available for purchase on most market days, and you never know what you might come across at the crafts booths. General Edmonds Market hours are 9 am to 2 pm in May and June, and 9 am to 3 pm July through October. The location is Downtown Edmonds.

Edmonds is a port of call for Washington State Ferries. This ferry company serves various communities within the Puget Sound area and is heavily relied upon for getting to and from the more northerly San Juan Islands. From the ferry dock in Edmonds, it is currently only possible to catch a ferry that is destined for Kingston Washington, which is just across the Puget Sound to the west. The Edmonds Kingston ferry boats can accommodate up to 2,000 people and 188 vehicles. Kingston, it should be noted, serves as a major gateway to the Olympic Peninsula.
