Lake Chelan Washington

One of the most scenic and enjoyable areas in Eastern Washington to visit, Lake Chelan offers visitors swimming, fishing, camping, and hiking opportunities in a lovely mountain setting. There are enormous trout swimming around the lake, so if you're ready to reel them in, bring you boat, or you can jump on the Lake Shuttle Ferry to get out on the water. Within minutes you are sure to have a tug on your line.

Remote villages like the Stehekin settlement are part of the environment at Lake Chelan WA. Glaciers, which are still in the area, are part of what created Lake Chelan. This is one of the deepest lakes in the country, at over 1,500 feet at its deepest. While the lake is only a couple of miles long, it reaches 50 miles into the Cascade Mountains. The recreation area of the lake is in the northernmost four miles. There is also the scenic North Cascade highway, which allows you to tour the most scenic spots in the region.

You can camp while you are staying at Lake Chelan, or you can enjoy the lake from one of the comfortable resorts on or near the lake. For longer stays, you might want to consider one of the Lake Chelan vacation rentals. The Caravel Waterfront resort is one of the most popular options for visitors seeking a place to stay while they're visiting Lake Chelan Washington. There are 92 guest rooms, each with a nice view. They offer a range of accommodations, from a simple single room to larger suites that have kitchens and fireplaces, perfect for families. For extra special events, the Jacuzzi suites and the penthouse suites offer even more luxury and space, with terraces overlooking Lake Chelan, air conditioning, color television, and a telephone.

Many visitors to Lake Chelan Washington might tire of a hotel or resort if they're planning on staying for an extended period on their summer vacations. The Lakeshore Legend, on the South shore, is one of the most well known Lake Chelan vacation rentals. There is a private dock, so that you don't have to go far to enjoy swimming and boating. It is only a short two mile drive from downtown Chelan, so supplies are not far either.

Another popular place to stay is Watson's resort, which has stood here since 1896. Members of this family still own and run this property. This is part resort, and also can pass for one of the Lake Chelan vacation rentals due to its detached cottages. Spread out over 30 acres near the shore of Lake Chelan WA, families have been coming here to vacation for over 60 years. There are great views of the lake from the cottages, and there is also a heated pool and a hot tub right next to the lake.

Whether you're looking for great camping along a beautiful lake, or want to stay at a comfortable resort and spend your days boating, Lake Chelan can accommodate you. Far from a crowded resort destination, this is a great place to enjoy a few days of your Washington State vacation.
