The San Juan Islands bed and breakfasts can be excellent places to stay if you are seeking a quiet and intimate lodging experience. Kids are generally not allowed at the B&Bs in the San Juan Islands, and this helps to create a more peaceful environment for adult guests. Adding to the tranquil nature of the San Juan Islands bed and breakfasts is the fact that they don't offer a lot of guest units. In other words, you won't be overwhelmed by fellow guests. You should also find that the service is good, as the owners and/or staff don't have a ton of guests to satisfy.
San Juan Island Bed and Breakfasts
San Juan Island is a good place to start if you are interested in staying at a bed and breakfast during your San Juan Islands vacation. This island offers the most lodging options in general, and as far as the B&Bs are concerned, there are many great options to choose from. The Wildwood Manor Bed and Breakfast is a top San Juan Islands B&B, and if you can't get a room there, you might see what's available at the Trumpeter Inn. Worry not if these fantastic Friday Harbor bed and breakfasts are completely booked, however, as the Friday Harbor area is home to plenty more that deserve a nod. The Longhouse B&B at Mitchell Bay (pictured) is just one more example. This San Juan Islands B&B is about nine miles northwest of Friday Harbor, and you might be interested to know that its rates are among the best that you will find at any B&B on the island.
Orcas Island Bed and Breakfasts
As is true of the bed and breakfasts on San Juan Island, the Orcas Island bed and breakfasts provide plenty in the way of quality and variety. Many of the top picks on this beautiful island are found in the Eastsound area, and they include the Kangaroo House B&B and the Kingfish Inn. If you don't have your heart set on staying in the Eastsound area during your Orcas Island visit, then you might look to Deer Harbor. This is where you will find The Inn on Orcas Island. This bed and breakfast, much like some of the other B&Bs on the islands of Orcas and San Juan, is among the best San Juan Islands luxury hotels, so you might keep it in mind when comfort and amenities are the name of the game.
Lopez Island Bed and Breakfasts
The San Juan Islands lodging options decrease significantly as you move away from San Juan Island and Orcas Island. In fact, Lopez Island is the only other island that offers hotels, and these hotels are very limited in number. That doesn't mean that they aren't worth keeping in mind, especially if you want to stay at a bed and breakfast. The Lopez Island hotels include two fine bed and breakfasts, and they are the Edenwild Inn and the MacKaye Harbor Inn. The Edenwild Inn is a better fit for those who want to be close to the best restaurants on Lopez Island, while the MacKaye Harbor Inn is found on the south end of the island and can be an ideal place to stay if you want to do a lot of kayaking. The location on the beach ensures good kayaking opportunities, as do the kayak rentals.
