The San Juan Islands hotels are found on three main tourist islands, and each of these islands can be excellent places to spend a night or more. San Juan Island offers the bulk of the lodging options, especially when you look to the Friday Harbor area. The Friday Harbor hotels have something to fit most tastes and budgets, and within easy reach of your room or suite will be shops, restaurants, a full-service marina, and more. When an upscale San Juan Islands lodging is what you have in mind and you also want to stay in Friday Harbor, then it's hard to beat the Friday Harbor House. On the cheaper side of things is the Discovery Inn.

San Juan Island Hotels

The other destination that travelers tend to turn to when searching for hotels on San Juan Island is Roche Harbor. The Roche Harbor hotels are limited to the Roche Harbor Resort, though this resort offers a variety of lodging options. You can stay in the historic hotel, which offers budget-friendly rooms, or book one of the more comfortable and complete suites. Home rentals are also available at the Roche Harbor Resort, so you can choose accordingly.

Another island in the San Juans that offers a relatively large number of lodging options is Orcas Island. Hotels of various kinds can be found across Orcas, and they include some of the best San Juan Islands beach hotels. The West Beach Resort is one of these beach hotels, and should your budget allow, the beachfront cottages are the way to go. As is true of other resorts in the San Juans, the West Beach Resort has a variety of guest unit options. Other cottages complement the beachfront cottages, and you can also stay in a canvas cabin that is akin to a tent or secure an RV or tent site at the campground.

Orcas Island Hotels

Much like the island of San Juan, Orcas Island is home to some tantalizing bed and breakfasts. These bed and breakfasts include the upscale Inn on Orcas Island (pictured). Charm, style, and tranquility are what this lovely B&B is all about, and its hard to argue with the location on Deer Harbor. As for other Orcas Hotels that might suit your fancy, the Rosario Resort provides enticing lodging options and inviting facilities, and many travelers appreciate the charm and affordability of the historic Orcas Hotel.

Lopez Island Hotels

Lopez Island is the only other island in the San Juans that offers hotels, and if you like to cycle or relax, then it might be the island for you. The flat terrain and the very rural nature of Lopez Island makes it such an ideal destination for cyclists, and the low population and lack of development help to keep things extra tranquil. There aren't a lot of Lopez Island hotels to choose from, but what there is should prove sufficient for most travelers' needs. The Lopez Islander Resort is the most complete Lopez Island hotel in terms of facilities, and should you prefer staying at a B&B, there are at least two good ones to choose from. Complementing the Lopez Islander Resort and the B&Bs is a hotel of sorts that offers both cottages and campsites.

When trying to find your ideal San Juan Islands accommodations, giving the vacation rentals a look can be a good idea. Condos, cabins, cottages, and homes are all available for rent in the San Juans, and some of the more enticing rentals sit on their own private strip of sand. As is true of the San Juan Islands hotels, the San Juan Islands vacation rentals raise their rates during the peak summer season, and if you don't secure a summer rental well in advance, you will likely be out of luck. San Juan Islands lodging in general is essentially impossible to find in the summer if you wait until the last minute.
