Downtown Seattle

Ballard | Belltown | Capitol Hill | Chinatown International District | Downtown | Fremont | Greenlake | Madison Park | Magnolia | Pioneer Square | University District

Downtown is the crossroads of Seattle, and the center of the action in the Emerald City. A downtown Seattle hotel will let you experience the bustle of city life while having easy access to the best restaurants and proximity to well-known destinations like Pike Place Market.

Getting a hotel downtown is a relatively easy task, given the fact that there are dozens of hotels, ranging from a trendy boutique or a luxury hotel downtown. Being at a top downtown Seattle Hotel means you probably have access to a fine concierge who is on hand to help you figure out what type of Seattle sightseeing you would like to do and possibly book a Seattle Tour for you.

The downtown area of the city is ground zero for a tourist wanting to take a Seattle tour. They’ll be within close proximity to Westlake Center at 5th and Pine. Right across the street from the Seattle Center is where one can buy tickets for Seattle sightseeing on the ride the Ducks Tour, a land and water Seattle tour in an amphibious army vehicle. Or, walk over to Pioneer Square and catch the streetcar to Pier 70, and buy tickets to go to Victoria, Canada on the Victoria Clipper, a high-speed ferry.

If you choose to stay at a downtown Seattle hotel, you will be only a short walk from the diversions of the Pike Place Market. Curious little antique shops, ethnic stores, candy shops, aromatic French bakeries and fresh vegetable stands make up just a few of the different types of stores and stalls you can wander through near the beautiful waterfront.

Beyond the market, and yet well within walking distance of most any hotel downtown is the waterfront and Pier 54 area. Just head west towards the water if you’re in the market. You can either take the steps behind the market to the waterfront, or you can go down to the Harbor Steps at 1st and University, this will take you directly to the second most popular stop on a Seattle tour. The maritime themed restaurants like Steamer’s and strange stores like Ye Old Curiosity Shoppe make this a one of a kind setting. Argosy Cruises operates small cruises around Puget Sound, and is a fun way to experience Seattle sightseeing from the waterfront.

Visitors to downtown enjoy the convenience of the major bus lines, all of which come through, connecting you to whatever part of the city you want to see. Using the clean, comfortable buses can help you save money while you’re doing Seattle sightseeing. Whatever you want to see or do in Seattle, downtown is a great place to start.
