Tacoma Hotels

Tacoma hotels are occasionally overshadowed by the accommodations in the neighboring city of Seattle, but this lovely waterfront town is well worth a visit in its own right, and it has the hotels to match the standard of its attractions. Whether you're in Tacoma to go antiquing, catch an event at the Tacoma Dome, or check out the vintage restored buildings in its historical district, knowing the best hotels to stay at will make your trip more relaxing and pleasant.

The Hotel Murano (pictured) is one of the most upscale of the hotels in Tacoma Washington. Located in the heart of the city's downtown, this four-star hotel exudes modernity, luxury, and great service. From the sleek, clean lines of the lobby, adorned with a beautiful chandelier of modern glass art, to the suave and swanky atmosphere of the hotel bar, everything in this hotel is neatly streamlined, cool, and contemporary. Located right next to the Art Museum in Tacoma, this is one of the most artistic of Tacoma hotels, with pieces of glass art dispersed throughout the hotel. Relax with a drink at the bar or at the Bite Restaurant, which has a menu full of delicious Northwestern cuisine. A day spa, spa tub, fitness center, and business center cater to your needs, and rooms are fitted with luxury bedding, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, coffee/tea machines, and designer bath toiletries. The Hotel Murano is well-located for sightseeing, walking distance to the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass, and within a few miles of Point Defiance Park. Prices are reasonable for the quality of accommodation and service.

The Silver Cloud Inn is a crowd favorite among the hotels in Tacoma Washington. The three-star hotel is less upscale and has a more affordable price point than the Hotel Murano, but the location is simply spectacular. Built on a pier that juts right out into Puget Sound on the Tacoma waterfront, the views from the rooms are incredible—you literally feel like you are floating on the water. As a boutique hotel, the Silver Cloud Inn has only 76 rooms and therefore a more intimate atmosphere. Rooms come equipped with coffee/tea, complimentary toiletries, cable TV, and wireless internet. One of the highlights of your stay will undoubtedly be the full hot and cold buffet breakfast which is served every morning, and there is also a reception for guests on Tuesday evenings. The Silver Cloud Inn is a few minutes' drive from downtown, but you may not even feel the need to go downtown, with the beautiful view in your room, a good selection of restaurants close by, and close proximity to the Old Town, or historical district. Some rooms have spa tubs and/or bay windows that open out onto the bay.

There are many more options for Tacoma hotels from chains such as Courtyard Marriott, Sheraton, Hampton Inn, and other large hotel companies. However, if you're passing through Tacoma and are looking for good value for your money, the two-star Shilo Inn will not disappoint. One of the most reasonably priced hotels in Tacoma Washington, the Shilo is an excellent, simple but comfortable choice. Rooms are equipped with free internet, coffee and tea, microwaves, and even mini-refrigerators. There is also a small gym and an indoor pool in the hotel for optimum convenience. A complimentary breakfast is offered with a good selection of pastries and cereal, extra value to fuel you for a busy day of sightseeing in Tacoma Washington.
