Washington Coast

A wonderful setting for your next vacation, the Washington Coast has no lack of sights and attractions for the visitor. You can hike among scenic coastal trails and enjoy wildlife viewing, or you can go fishing in the Pacific, which is teeming with fish. The Washington State coast is well-known as the best area in the US for catching salmon and other bottom fish, such as rainbow trout.

Most of western Washington is rugged and undeveloped, so this is a perfect place to enjoy nature and solitude. The well-known Columbia River meets the Pacific at the Washington coast and in the north, all the way up to the top of the Olympic Peninsula to Neah Bay. The lookout point at Cape Flattery was where explorers and the ships were first sighted by the Makah Indians, who still have a reservation in this area.

The southern part of the Washington State coast is where the Long Beach peninsula is. This area is home to Westport, which also has excellent fishing, as well as Ocean Shores. Long Beach is a great place for family vacations, since some of the best hotels and resorts are at Ocean Shores, which has tons of great choices for guests seeking Washington Coast lodging.

Within easy reach, the Olympic Peninsula, and the Hoh rainforest make for great day trips if you're staying near the Washington coast. This area is filled with waterways and forest, making this a perfect place to enjoy the most secluded and scenic hiking and camping opportunities.

Aside from hiking, fishing, and exploring the beaches the Washington State coast, you can fill your afternoons digging for razor clams. There are schools in the area that can teach you how to learn this time honored activity.

Long Beach is one of the most popular areas on the Washington State coast. This area is busy in summer, since there are lots of little towns that have places to stay. The scenic views, some of the most breathtaking in the whole state, can be found at the Fort Canby State Park, which is just south of Long Beach.

If you want to have enough time to explore the coast, you want to research where the best Washington State lodging is. In the north, Forks is a town that gives you easy access to the northern part of the Olympic Peninsula, but it is easy to get to the Hoh rain forest from here as well. Whether you're looking for a charming bed and breakfast, or to rent a cabin, there are many different options for Washington State lodging, it all depends on your mood.

From the rugged beaches scattered with fallen old growth and coastlines dotted with sea stacks and rocky cliffs, you will find an abundance of beauty on the Washington coast. A visit to this area will reward you with unforgettable vistas that you will never forget.
