Winthrop Hotels

Winthrop Washington hotels make great bases to explore the North Cascade Mountains and take part in all the outdoor activities of the Methow Valley. The unique Old West–themed town has a variety of lodging options for any budget, from simple campgrounds to fine Winthrop resorts.

The finest of all Winthrop resorts is Sun Mountain Lodge Washington. Situated on 3,000 private acres in the heart of the Cascades, Sun Mountain is on of the best Washington State resorts: a perfect place to stay if you want to hike or ski on the trails of the Methow Valley. Its 98 rooms have fine rustic furnishings; almost every one provides incredible views of the Methow Valley. Sun Mountain also has some of the best cabins in Winthrop Washington, 16 secluded structures right on a scenic mountain lake. Suites range from $200 to $800 a night, cabins from $300 to $800.

The Freestone Inn is second only to Sun Mountain Lodge among Winthrop resorts. Guests can choose between family-sized lodges, charming rooms in the main lodge, or private cabins. The restaurant at Freestone Inn is one of the finest in Methow Valley.

Other high quality Winthrop resorts include the Virginian, named after the novel by Owen Wister (which was inspired by the author’s visit to Winthrop); Wolfridge Resort, a peaceful riverside lodge; and River’s Edge Resort, the best of downtown Winthrop Washington hotels, offering some secluded cabins in Winthrop Washington.

Anglers should look to the affordable Mt Gardner Inn. Mt Gardner offers fishing guides to take you out onto local streams and has some of the best room prices of all Winthrop Washington hotels, with rooms as low as $60 a night.

Winthrop is famous for its Old West facades. Behind one of these false fronts hides the modern Hotel Rio Vista. The Rio Vista is aptly named: from the back windows you can see the confluence of the Chuwuch and Methow rivers.

For an intimate visit, consider staying in a bed and breakfast in Winthrop WA. Here, hosts can provide information on the surrounding areas and give tips to enjoy the activities of the Methow Valley. Prices range from about $70 a night up to $200 a night. The Twisp River Inn is a charming bed and breakfast in Winthrop WA area. Whitetail Crossing B&B is a deluxe home not far from Winthrop. Arrowhead Lodge is another fine bed and breakfast in Winthrop WA.

Another option to consider in lieu of Winthrop Washington hotels is renting a private house or cabin. Most rental companies and owners require a two or three-night minimum stay. With so many private cabins in Winthrop Washington and the surrounding area, it is easy to find the right lodging for your needs at any time of year.

The most unique lodging options in the Winthrop area are the Rendezvous Huts. These eight to ten person cabins are spread across the cross-country ski trails around Winthrop. From town, the huts are between four and twenty miles. These are basic cabins, with outhouses and heat from wood stoves. They are $35 a night per person. Groups can reserve exclusive use of the hut for about $180 a night.

Winthrop Washington hotels are varied and numerous. There will rarely be a time when it is hard to find a room in town or the surrounding area. Choose a stay at one of the Winthrop Washington hotels and explore the natural wonders of the Methow Valley.
