Oh! Beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of
grain for purple mountains majesty. That verse in America
the Beautiful is referring to majesty of the Rocky Mountains.
The Rocky Mountains stretch more than 4,800 kilometers
(3,000 miles) from northernmost part of British Columbia
in Canada, to New
Mexico. The elevations range from about 1,500 meters
along the plains to 4,399 meters, and the widths range
from 120 to 650 kilometers. A day
trip through the Rocky Mountains is an excellent way
to see some of the rugged beauty of Wyoming and find some
great spots for picnicking or picture taking, much like
the other great Wyoming outdoor attraction, Yellowstone
National Park.
The Rocky Mountains in Wyoming are comprised of the
Grand Teton
in what is referred to as the Cathedral Range. With mountain
ranges including the Wind River Range and Big Horn Mountains
its no wonder, Wyoming is a pivotal destination when viewing
the Rocky Mountains. While in Wyoming you can stay at
one of the many Rocky Mountain Cabin facilities offered
there. Most cabins are constricted in a rustic, earthy
fashion to instill the essence of old fashion pioneer
living with the arability of modern comforts. Some Rocky
mountain cabins are self-catering, while others offer
a bed and breakfast option. Depending upon what you’re
planning to accomplish, a rocky mountain cabin can act
as a base of operation for hiking,
swimming, or biking or even a place to spend leisurely
time enjoying the view and breathing in the fresh air.
It will certainly be easy to find a Rocky Mountain cabin
to suit your needs.
Rocky Mountain vacations are at their peak times in the early to mid summer months. If you are planning on taking your vacation then, remember to book in advance. Most cabins and facilities offer on line or over the phone bookings. A Rocky Mountain tour is a fantastic way to see the Rocky Mountains without wearing yourself down. Rocky Mountain tours come in a variety of options. One of the most popular options is a bus tour of the Rocky Mountains. You can witness one range of mountains or can see them all on a well equipped/air conditioned tour bus. The second option for a Rocky Mountain tour is by rail. These tours vary from 2 days up to 12 days with options to view other attractions.
If you visit the Rockies in the winter, you can book a snowmobile tour, where you can follow a guide on a snowmobile after you have been properly instructed on how to use and operate the machine. These tours are usually included when you book a Rocky mountain cabin in the winter. So, upon booking be sure to inquire if that option is available. When visiting the Rocky Mountains you can experience purple mountains majesty in a rustic cabin, on a train, by bus, or by snowmobile.
Depending on what other activities you have planned
for the day, a visit to the Rocky Mountains can be part
of a longer day trip to Yellowstone or some of the best
cities of Wyoming, including Cheyenne
and Cody. Cheyenne
hotels and Cody hotels
are both great places to stay while on vacation.
For skiers, the Jackson Hole
Ski Resort is a great way to enjoy the mountains while
playing in the snow.
